It's in the video
Houston Police Officers’ Union Endorses Campus Carry

The most noteworthy aspect of this report is the last thirty seconds, when the reporter doing the live “standup” reports that a representative for the Houston Police Officers’ Union, the largest police union in the state of Texas, spoke out in favor of legalizing licensed concealed carry (of handguns) on Texas college campuses and dismissed the notion that the presence of armed citizens would somehow cause chaos or confusion during or following a campus shooting.

Despite prompt law enforcement responses, most shooting incidents were stopped by
means other than law enforcement interventions.

He confirmed that Andy Cerota's news report was "Right on the money" and that he was fine with being quoted as such.

He also mentioned that the union had been originally fairly anti-CHL, fearing shootings of CHL-holders by police amongst other things. Upon seeing that that hadn't occurred at all, they were happy to throw their support behind the concept of CHL in general, and they now specifically support concealed-carry on campus.
Great legwork. Thanks for tracking this down.

That is just AWESOME and a little surprising coming from Houston.

Agree on the awesomeness, but please note that it's coming NOT from the chief of police, but rather from the police officer's union. I feel very confident that our latest chief, while working his way up through the ranks internally (for a change!), may not publicly differ from historical top brass position. If anyone has info to the contrary, I would love to hear it! :bigear:

+1. The HPOU representative's original statement was so surprising, and also didn't raise any uproar in the MSM, that I was almost wondering if it really happened, or he was misquoted, etc. I'm really happy to hear the position affirmed. Thanks!

If the brass from HPD uttered support for such a pro 2A bill, the mayor would probably have them on landscaping duty for the rest of their career.
