Quick story: We have a locker room at work, with the showers and locker room separated from the bathroom by a door. I opened the door from the showers to the bathroom one day to see a man using one of the urinals. The first thing that I noticed about him was his shirt, a 5.11 covert casual. I briefly considered mentioning that I had the same shirt, but by that point realized that the man was not looking down at all, he had his head spun around as far as he could without turning his body to look at me with a very surprised and serious look. When I saw his earpiece, I realized that he was part of an executive protection detail, and I had come out of a door that he hadn't anticipated someone would be exiting. He had plenty of other backup spread throughout our building and campus, but I suspect he checked the room that I came out of before exiting the locker room.

To answer ARs questions:

1)Work - policy prevents carry, though not with any legal consequences.
2/3) I am slowly and incrementally pushing for a change in policy.

With the alarm off, it is relatively easy for a pair of intruders to march you in, hold a a weapon on you and yours, tape you up, maybe pistol whip you for good measure, search the house at their leisure because the alarm is off, and leave with whatever. Hopefully, the BG's will not worry about your identifying them later, in which case you may lose much more than things.
That's why I like the chronicle online. on top of that, it's free.

Do you have a vacuum sealer?
I can afford one, but I'm not going to take a gun into the shower, even vacuum sealed. If I'm assaulted in the shower, I'll just squirt some of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap in their eyes, and they won't be able to open them for a 1/2 hour. In the meantime, they get to spend a blind half hour in the shower with a naked fat man. When they get their eyesight back, they'll never do anything wrong again.

I have a small decorative stand (currently used as a plant stand) next to my shower. I can reach it from the toilet and from the shower. I can also see through my shower curtain, so it gives me time to reach it if necessary. I dont have to physically take my handgun into the shower with me, but it is never out of arms reach when I am in my home.
