Mine is the same every year and easy to keep. "Don't make New Years Resolutions!"

Happy New Year to All!

I don't really do the "NY Resolution" thing, but I do have some personal goals that I have set for myself this year. I'd like to drop 40lbs and quit smoking. I am not doing the 'cold turkey' quit this time...just going to do it gradually. As for the weight, I'm not holding back. It's something I need to do and want to do (gave myself Q1 to do it).

This year, I am keeping my goals to myself. Part of my reasoning is this:

http://www.ted.com/talks/derek_sivers_k ... rself.html

(If you've never seen a TED Talk, you're missing a lot. They are very interesting and cover a wide variety of subjects. There is sure to be a TED Talk that you/anyone would love.)

Though I'll bite the bullet, and say that one of mine is to lose weight.

1. Keep my GPA over 3.5

2. Lose 15 pounds

3. Don't date girls who are chubbier than me (fair is fair)

The problem is that all the girls have resolutions not to date guys that are chubbier than they are. Really tends to narrow down the dating possibilities a bit.

The first two are good, but from an older guy to a younger guy, some of the nicest girls I have known were chubby. Cute too. You might be missing out. I'll take a sweet chubby girl over a mean skinny one any day!
My goal is to ride my 1998 Triumph from El Paso to Prudehoe Bay, Alaska and back in August. More guns is not so much a goal, as something which is just gonna happen!

I don't know if this qualifies as a New Year's Resolution, but it's a resolution of some kind, and it has always made me laugh, each time I've heard it:
Lone Watie wrote:I wore this frock coat in Washington, before the war. We wore them because we belonged to the Five Civilized Tribes. We dressed ourself up like Abraham Lincoln. You know, we got to see the Secretary of the Interior. He said, "Boy! You boys sure look civilized!" He congratulated us, and he gave us medals for looking so civilized. We told him about how our land had been stolen. Our people were dying. When we finished, he shook our hands and said, "Endeavor to persevere." They stood us in a line--John Jumper, Junior McIntosh, Buffalo Hump, Jim Pockmark, and me. I'm Lone Watie. They took our pictures, and the newspapers said, "Indians Vow to Endeavor to Persevere." We thought about it for a long time. "Endeavor to persevere". And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union.
It that doesn't just put a grin your face, you have no heart.
