I bet you that rifle isn't sighted for a range anywhere near inside that apartment. A shotgun, though, will impact just below where the bead is sighted. I'd sooner trust the 2 inches of buckshot spread I'd get to the front door knowing where it's going to hit, personally.karl wrote: Compare that to the diameter of a rifle barrel.
Sure beats the alternative, though.Pawpaw wrote:I'm betting if you were on the down-range side of it you would have a different opinion. I know I would!woodsong wrote:But neither is consistent with the connotation of the word "scatter" ...karl wrote: Compare that to the diameter of a rifle barrel.
Having even a well-aimed load of buckshot fly past you on it's way to dispatching the BG would still be an unnerving experience, to say the least.
We don't know the exact situation the good guy was faced with. Whether or not the BG was significantly taller than the woman he held would make a big difference in how much wiggle room there was for shot placement.NcongruNt wrote:I bet you that rifle isn't sighted for a range anywhere near inside that apartment. I agree with you 200%. I was simply addressing the word "scatter".NcongruNt wrote:Sure beats the alternative, though.Pawpaw wrote:I'm betting if you were on the down-range side of it you would have a different opinion.
