I think the 19 round capacity mags are for the 9mm. I believe the extended mags for the new compact XDM are the same as the the existing XDM full-size mags, so if the .40 mags only hold 16 on the full-size, then the new compact's extended mags will only hold 16. I could be wrong.

Yes, I believe bolsters for XDM will fit all of the XDM including the new compact.

I'm familiar and comfortable with the XDM, so for me it only ,makes sense to go to the new XDM compact if/when I change to something smaller unless I decided to go to something completely different like a single stack.

I think the 19 round capacity mags are for the 9mm.
i was wondering about that, at the Springfield web site it shows a 19-round magazine for the XDm 40 compact. the 9mm comes with a standard 13+1 capacity, and the .40 comes with 11+1 capacity, but both list a 19 round extended mag. perhaps this is a typo, but i see your point in that it would probably be 16 rounds for the compact .40 since the full-size holds 16. i've also found a video on youtube demonstrating that the full-size XDm 16-round mags do work in the compact model, you just wouldn't have the grip extension. then again if you've gone through the first 12 rounds, then expended all 16 (or 19) from the spare mag, and STILL need more, i think a grip extension is the least of your concerns.
