Edit to add: I was going to say we have a new winner, but this is a two ticket total, while my wife's single ticket was about $526 here in Texas.
What was that for?
~84mph in a 55mph construction zone with workers present about 5-6 years ago. No deferred adjudication and no traffic safety class allowed. If she got another speeding ticket within two years her license would have been suspended for 6 months.

This is another example that proves that traffic tickets are all about safety.
I'll tell you what...

I would drive a lot more "safely" after paying a $700 plus ticket.

It is outrageous.

That would by a nice new gun.

I feel for ya.

Reminds me of an incident before I escaped California. One sunny day Mrs. Handog and I decided to take the urchins for a short drive to the beach. Upon arrival there was a parking lot with an unmanned toll booth. There were no signs (so I thought) so I assumed it was OK to park. Well, after an afternoon of serious sand castle building we returned to the car. Yep, there was a ticket on each and every car windshield there. There was a State park Ranger making his rounds. When questioned he pointed to a small sign up high directing visitors to place their parking fee in the covert wooden box. What a racket.

To rent a 26-foot truck one-way from San Francisco to Austin costs $3236, and yet the one-way charge for that same truck from Austin to San Francisco is just $399. Even so, U-Haul has to pay its employees to drive the empty trucks back from Texas. Hmmm :headscratch

That's becaue there are a lot more people moving from KA than to KA.

Is that why Austin has a rep for being liberal?

Unfortunately I have to all the time. It's a shame such a beautiful State has been completely ruined.
I think he was hinting at not paying it - they won't extradite for a class C (equivalent) local traffic warrant. Texas won't even enter them in TCIC, so you're pretty much good out of county, at least in this area.
One of my cousins got a speeding ticket in New York during college and did the same thing.
