I heard recently that San Antonio has a city ordinance prohibiting carrying a loaded long gun in city limits...I did a google search and found support for this.

Do any other areas have similar prohibitions?

A city in Texas cannot restrict the bearing of arms beyond state law. The relevant law is LGC §229.001. IANAL, etc.

Did you just post the same question in tx.guns?

I did post in tx.guns...here was the link I found:

http://www.concealedhandgun.com/faq.htm

Now, it does not name the specific ordinance... I heard this was the case from someone and my quick search came up with that. I have not looked into further as I don't go to SA all that often. But, figured I'd try here...and tx.guns as well.

I can't find the San Antonio ordinances online.

I think that link is a red herring. If something like this were enforced, we would have heard about it.

I could always be wrong. :???: One good thing about this forum is that mistakes are corrected quickly.

Why would you modify the SKS to have only 10 foreign parts? It's on the C&R list.
In it's original form as imported, it is fine. It does not fall under the 922 restrictions.

When you start modifying it, you can actually turn it into something that is 922-restricted.

Best advice for an SKS is to leave it stock. The 922 restrictions are insane, but they do get enforced.

I wanted to remove the grenade launcher, change the stock, and use hi-cap mags. It is already complete and has exactly 10 of the twenty foreign parts. I will try to find a pic...

If you're going to modify an SKS, you might wait on the final product from these guys:

http://www.firefaster.com/

They are shipping their 10/22 stock, and have an SKS version in their patent drawings.

A legal full auto semi-auto. Cool.
