Rights are given by God and are infringed by government. Representative democracy attempts to be the middleman which is why we vote for what we want.

A Ben Franklin quote in another thread always comes to mind when I contemplate how I feel about the TSA:

I've talked with Charlie and Lindsey and we want to be groped and prodded. It's for the greater good.

I personally have a problem with the TSA scanning and body pat downs because it is in direct violation of the 4th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
TSA is implying that everyone in the United States, that flies or uses any form of public transportation, is a terrorist. Or they are saying one person is a terrorist, but we don’t trust any of you so we will search all of you. What is the probable cause for search, as required by the 4th Amendment??

+1 I travel frequently and mostly opt out of the nude-o-scans. They can say the scanners don't pose a health risk all they want, but milliwave and backscatter scanners that penetrate (see through) clothing are also interacting with at least your surface body tissues...and I'd rather not have the cumulative exposure.

Also, if you're wearing slacks with pleats and do the scanner, the pleats may cause lines or distortion where the TSA can't get a good, clear look at your privates. So, in addition to going through the scanner, they'll still subject you to the enhanced patdown.

Pretty much every major city has an area where you can get it done a lot cheaper than an airline ticket.

So they are still bombarding your body with x-rays and doing searches that by the very nature of the search is a sexual assault on a law abiding citizen. But the scanners now produce a stick figure image.....I guess us serfs should be thankful for the privacy we get from our overlords.

This still doesn't solve the problem.

The options haven't changed. Would you rather receive an unregulated blast of untested and poisonous radiation or would you rather be molested and digitally raped? If you refuse both, not only well you be barred from your flight but you'll get a $10k fine in the mail for interfering or preventing a federal employee from performing their duties and probably receive an IRS audit notice shortly.

Exactly....that is why I refuse to fly and there is no way I would let my children be subject to either. I would love to see many places but if sexual and or irradiation is part of the price tag, no thanks.

Kidding aside, I unfortunately have to fly for work. I figure if I get any type of cancer, I will call my lawyer and we sill start suing. I have the airline miles to prove it!
