Re: Southwest Airlines, no problemo (Details)...
I went a couple of weeks ago to pick up a Mosin Nagant from a friend. Took my case, told the agent it was empty. She picked it up said ok and checked it. Came back with the rifle and the agent asked me to see the chamber..all clear. Signed the form, went into the case. Locked it with the 2 locks and he said just wait around for 5 min so make sure all was well. Both times it came out out as normal baggage...easy as pie. Too easy in my mind, made sure I was at baggage claim in a hurry.

I did, and the ticket agent was cool with just a quick visual check...No one touched the weapon after I opened the safe, and as soon as the paperwork (card) was filled out, they put a nice little "code" on the card and you lock it up, put it in the "secure" area of your luggage and lock that up and say bye bye, yer on yer way...AustinBoy wrote:I havent flown with a gun yet, but I am curious.
If you have to show them the gun, how discrete are they about it?
Did you take it out and lay it on the counter or just crack the case and say "see?"
I have carried in the non secure area of the airport and that feels strange enough.
Cant imagine showing a gun!
Thanks
The TSA was not involved at any point at Hobby or Love Field...Other than the radiation violations of muh body...

Like someone else said, if you relax and have everything ready to go and in your mind, prove to them you are prepared and maybe have done this before, and you should not have too many problems...
