I'll probably be hunted down and tarred and feathered for this, but there were other states in the old west besides Texas, and they could all claim the same guns as have been listed here. But the one that does it for me is the one you see over and over again when you go to that Texas Rangers museum in San Antonio — and that is a dolled up 1911A1 in a fancy BBQ rig. To me, those are synonymous with Texas.

Might want to wait until OC becomes Law of our Land, when more citizens will get to see and understand what a BBQ rig is.

Yeah I did it ....

It would have to be something MADE in TX.. No?

STI has lots of choices... This one has some throw-back value, but I'd pick a 1911..

Don'f forget the Ruger LCP with laser sight Texas Edition. It has probably gained more widespread attention than any other firearm related to Texas since the Governor's recent coyote encounter.

1911, any good flavor, but I think Utah is already on the 1911.
I think a gun that is associated with Texas Independence, probably a Colt cap and ball pistol

Here are some of the Texas Ranger 1911s I'm thinking of:

Don't try to tell me that Texas Rangers haven't loved the 1911 since it first became available to them.

Rangers liked them because they could show them off. These are much too pretty to conceal.

The ban on mere citizens carrying handguns existed for more than a century in Texas. Therefore, the state gun of Texas should be a longgun Texans were allowed to keep and bear to protect themselves and their family and their livestock.

+1 on the Colt Walker...it is synonymous with Texas Rangers' beginnings and the settling of Texas. The 1911 is a close second.
