...when did you get your 66 and was it issued??? Ever have any lockwork problems??? about 350 of us got them and the SO got about that many Security Sixes in Stainless...we had a 33% failure rate and the SO had 0%...but theirs were ugly and ours were pretty...go figure...

I have a Colt Python with identical looking grips. I still have the walnut grips that came with the gun, but replaced them with the Pachmayr. They are easier on the hands than the checkered wood grips.

I never had any lockwork issues, and don't really remember anyone else having them. I got mine in 1978, but we switched to Model 59's in 1981. I also used a tricked-out 66 for PPC, but it was nothing more than the main frame components with all new guts and barrel. It was similar to this Image

I also have a stainless Security-Six. As for ruggedness, the Security-Six beats the 66 hands down. The Ruger has a solid frame with a top strap like a railroad tie. Maybe not quite as pretty as the 66, but after I went through it and radiused the trigger, lightened the pull and changed a couple of internal components out, it was almost as sweet to shoot as my PPC gun. :fire :thumbs2:

...that slab for a barrel must soak up a lotta recoil!!!

Off topic, kinda, but since it's my thread I guess i can. :mrgreen:

Yeah, it did. The gun was very manageable and recoil with .38 was great. Add the presentation grips and it was super sweet to shoot.

...you the one braggin' up your fine revolver...I'm just bein' agreeable...guns is good in any thread!!!
