I don't really care one way or the other about Beck, but the fact you think he's "hate filled" and "evil" is interesting.

Can you find a clip anywhere of Beck every treating anyone as hatefully and disrespectfully as this?

Just wonderin....

Do you actually think those two clips are comparable?

I know very little about Glen Beck. I've never heard his radio show (didn't even know he had one), and I've only seen clips of his TV show (well, I assumed that's what it was, maybe it was his radio show?) that other people draw to my attention. I don't watch Olberman and have about the same exposure to him that I've had to Beck. (Truth be told I don't follow any of that stuff, and frankly I can't understand why anyone else does. All of it is mind-numbingly irritating, to put it mildly. But as an impartial observer of those two clips, there is absolutely no comparison. Olberman and the other guy denigrate the girl from the very beginning of the clip and go downhill from there. Beck listens to what the caller has to say and sarcastically points out the flaws in her claims. He never insults here, never calls her names like Olberman and the other guy do.

The difference between those two clips is day and night. What I saw on the Olberman clip was detestable, to put it mildly. I can't believe that stuff is allowed on TV. The Beck clip seems typical of what I've been exposed to and certainly not offensive.

And since we're all about sharing information on this thread, some more about Media Matters.
The group, launched as a more traditional media critic, has all but abandoned its monitoring of newspapers and other television networks and is narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites, which its leaders view as political organizations and the “nerve center” of the conservative movement.
So apparently media matters....only if conservatives say it.

Liberals on MSNBC are perfectly justified in doing things like this:

OMG ANGRY WHITE RACISTS CARRYING GUNS AROUND THE PRESIDENT!!!eleventybillion!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYKQJ4-N ... r_embedded

Here's that angry white racist they were showing from the chest down....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7syx26Qt ... r_embedded

By the way, found that clip of Beck personally insulting and degrading people he doesn't agree with yet?

Here's another one of MSNBC's class acts doing so while you surf for it...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYiThAI4 ... re=related

Yep, fat jokes are a class act......

I just think its funny that you think Beck is evil and hateful. I don't care much about him. He's overblown, dramatic, loves predicting incoming doom, etc etc....

But if that's hateful, what would you describe Ed Shultz and Olbermann as? The devil himself? :headscratch

Oh wait, I forgot. It's not "hate speech" when liberals say it. My bad. :biggrinjester:

Edit: you posted a Glen video while I was writing. Going to watch it, brb.

hm, okay I watched the clip.

Beck was rude, loud, and sarcastic.....to a caller who started off the call insulting him....and who called to talk to him.

Not trashing someone he's never talked to or met like Olbermann....not making fun of her weight, or calling her stupid like Shultz.....just trashing her ideas.

A very impolite discussion, but a discussion of ideas, none the less. How is that a PERSONAL attack?

And these clips are comparable in your mind?

According to this Newsmax article, he's not exactly leaving Fox, although the language used in the article is rather vague.

What he meant was the end of HIS America.

I too could not stand the guy.

It always sounded to me like he just like to hear the sound of his own voice. And I lump Hannity in with him.

See ya.

My wife likes his show. I quit watching because I got tired of his conspiracy theories. I will give him this, though: It takes tremendous skill of a kind to do a 1 hour show every day formatted like his is, even with a skilled staff-tremendous skill. He doesn't hem and haw, obviously read the tele-prompter, say "Ugh-Ugh", or any of those iritating things that other professional people do, even after long rehearsals for a weekly show.

I have enjoyed Glenn Beck's radio show for many years now. I have never really had a chance to watch his tv show due to the fact that I have a job. I also find Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity quite entertaining and informative...but that is just my opinion.

My opionin, he was a evil hate filled man who would smear his own mother for ratings who was too much for fox to handle despite epic ratings.

So, the show had a nearly 40% drop in ratings, Beck would smear his own mother for ratings, and yet despite "epic" ratings, it was too much for Fox? Non sequitur? I haven't seen much of his Fox show or listened much to his radio show, but in my limited exposure I never saw an "evil hate filled man." I suppose if you were George Soros, you might have that opinion. :headscratch

Also, I'm sorry but is Beck anti Second Amendment? You could certainly find video of Olbermann spouting anti 2nd Amendment gibberish.

I think Beck is pretty pro, but haven't heard much about it one way or the other.

He probably doesn't talk about guns because if he did, Media Matters would tell everyone he was inciting us rednecks to go kill our super intelligent, compassionate democratic overlords.

I'm still fairly amused by all the "hate" that's thrown around regarding Bush, Beck, Palin, and any one else libs disagree with.

I don't like Obamas policies, I think he and the dems are hurting the nation and putting us on an unsustainable road to failure with their ideas and policies, but I don't hate any of them. I just want them retired in the next election.

Can you imagine what would be said if we pushed so hard to get any MSNBC personality off the air and discredited like the libs have hunted Beck? We'd be screamed at for violating their first amendment rights, called little gestapo nazis doing the will of our thuggish neo con leaders....etc etc. But as long as its only conservatives that get persecuted for expressing their views, everything is A-OK.

Glen Beck claims to be a life member of the NRA. Here's a transcript from a Beck interview with Wayne LaPierre. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,509812,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm not sad about it. I can't stand Beck (annoying) or Hannity (whiny). About the only ones I listen to now are Savage and Levin (he's funny when he squeaks).

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Sure, Beck is off his rocker (and he does own firearms, according to himself), and I just can't take him anymore, but that doesn't mean he's evil - just manipulative.

I have other reasons for not liking him that violate forum rules, so I won't go there, but the guy has just about worn out his welcome. There were two cases that I documented myself in the last year where he stretched the truth to the point of snapping it that finally caused me to turn the knob, and if I can remember what they were, and what exactly he said, I'll post them.

Hannity is a whiner whom I've avoided like the plague for the last 2 years, and I'm not sure I can even take big doses of Savage. Levin IS a hoot when he gets wound up, though.

Lately, I've just filled what was once talk-radio listening with podcasts. It keeps my blood pressure lower and I learn more that way.

I have found that your fact checking site lies about half the time, at least it does when I independently already know what the facts are. So I wouldn't trust that site.

I've been listening to conservative radio hosts since Rush Limbaugh came to KLBJ AM in Austin in the 80's.

Back then, I noticed a few things about Rush and his show:
1. It seemed like I was listening to my Dad and that was weird.
2. No one, and I mean no one, ever contradicted anything he said.
3. Everyone who attacked him attacked his personality or his delivery style and not the message and it's still that way today.
4. KLBJ was owned by Lady Bird Johnson, wife of the late LBJ. Huge democrat family. BUT the RL show was the top rated show that KLBJ had and since it was making money, hey, hey!!
5. At the time, KLBJ had loads of liberal shows and the newscasts definately had a liberal bias but it was Rush that paid the bills.

It's been the same way with all those who followed in Rush's footsteps. Conservative talk guys are all labeled as "Conspiracy Theorists", "Hate Mongers", "Homophobes" and the list goes on. No one ever takes to task the content of the messages; only the style.

There are some I don't care to listen to because their style grates on my nerves. Michael Savage comes to mind. I really don't like listening to him because of his style but I can't ever say I've heard him say something that wasn't accurate. His conclusions sometimes I don't agree with but the facts are always right on.

I saw the Beck story on Drudge and GB isn't going anywhere. His current contract is up soon so naturally the media plays it like he's getting fired. He will probably just go into some other area with Fox and if he ends up leaving Fox, it will probably be because he got a better offer doing something else.
