Not True. I was at the gun show this weekend at Dallas Market Hall, and there was no 30.06 posting. (I triple checked)
The only sign on the door was "No Loaded Guns in the Show"
I thought...Finally a show that makes sense. :thumbs2:
Don't remember seeing a 30.06 sign as I wasn't looking for one (sold my carry weapon in the parking lot). But at least one of the "no loaded guns in the gun show" signs going in the front door said "includes CHLs".
Granted this is not a valid 30.06 sign but knowing the Dallas cops that work the show if they found you carrying a loaded weapon in the show you would get a ride and you will be out some bucks. Simply not worth it to me.
If you missed the "includes chl" wording, I would not be surprised if you missed the 30.06 sign. Just saying.
Didnt miss the "Includes CHLS" but according to Texas law, that sign does not pertain to me. The state of Texas is very specific in regards to effective notice. If I missed it it was printed on a sign the size of a business card.
What Dallas cop do you know that works the show? The three that I know are all CHL friendly and think that posting a show is a very stupid thing to do. I do not want to :deadhorse: the topic of posting shows has been discussed VERY throughly.

If you would not carry into a show because of a non compliant sign, what other rights are you willing to give away? Just saying.

According to the wife, who is much more observant than I, the compliant 30.06 sign was on an easel just past the entrance on the right. We arrived at the show on saturday around noon. Perhaps the sign was not there when you arrived.

I know of several of the officers from past shows and have heard them very firmly state that CC was not allowed.

I am not willing to surrender any of my rights. As stated I did not have a weapon to carry so it was a non issue for me. I do choose to evalute every situation to determine when, where, and how I prefer to carry. If it makes you feel better to attack people who disagree with you on a forum then by all means swing away. It does not affect me in the least. You may want to cut back on the coffee though. Might just help you sell a few more houses. Just saying.

These shows in the DFW area ARE posted with legitimately worded and sized 30.06 signs. The Mesquite and Dallas Market Hall shows would be valid postings, as they are private property. There is the non-compliant sign outside, but as mentioned the 30.06 is on an easel as you pass buy to give the guy your ticket.

However, Allen, Ft. Worth and Irving are city owned property. And while not truly enforceable, I am not one to push the limits and spend my time and money fighting it. If someone wants to be a test case, then by all means please let us know how it works out. It would be good to get a ruling on this on the records once and for all on city buildings.

Really, you are going to use the word attack here? I asked a question...Nothing more nothing less. If my post came off as attacking, that was not my intention.

When you posted:

it came across as being very belittling.

Daniel,

I did not mean to belittle you at all. Sorry you took it that way. It was simply my opinion that anyone mentioning the "no loaded guns" sign would have included the fact that it also stated "includes CHLs" if for no other reason to emphasis its non compliance. Your omission suggested (IMHO) that you missed it.

The fact remains (as confirmed by Keith B) the Dallas Market Hall Show was posted with a compliant 30.06 sign and evidently you missed it, which is exactly what I suggested had happened. In fact, Keith confirmed the placement and method of display that I stated my wife had observed. So, unless you believe that the 3 of us are conspiring to make you look foolish, I would think it would be safe to say you were mistaken about the show not being posted.

Drop the bickering guys. Things in print can be misread as finger pointing when they aren't actually.

We are not bickering, we are discussing. We mended our misunderstanding. Move along, nothing to see here.

:iagree:
Now if you wanted to see some bickering you should have been in the parking lot of the gun show this weekend when I sold my carry gun and ammo for $850.00. My hands were full holding all the stuff while the guy got out his money so he handed the money to my wife to count. Needless to say that's the last time I saw that $850.00. :banghead:

I told one of the vendors trying to talk me into buying some stuff the whole story and his reply was "Did you shoot him?" I said "I couldn't, he had my gun!" The vendor replied, "Well, I'm sure there were a number of armed husbands in the parking lot who would have gladly shot him for you!" :fire

Disclaimer, in no way am I advocating that this man should have been shot for giving my money to my wife. No, really, I'm not.

Well, I went to the show. Decided not to take my gun as we were planing to go drinking after anyways. I didn't see any 30.06 signs at Dallas Market Hall. IF there was one it was not really visible.

Fully acknowledging my own cowardice in this arena, how are we ever going to stop official oppression or misguided enforcement of non-compliant signs if someone (not me) doesn't begin to challenge these occurrences?

The one time I went to the Dallas show it was posted and they made you zip-tie your gun and then go through a metal detector (not wand) and then hand you back your gun. I haven't been back there since.

I have also been to the Fort Worth show and carried, but I was arriving late and most of them were packing up. I also didn't know where the front of the building was and ended up walking in through the back where all the vendors entered from.

IF in this case there was a 30.06 posting (some saw one some didn't), it would not have been official oppression, as this venue is privately owned and can post 30.06. As far as a non compliant sign, I will not abide by them. I will carry past, and if I happen to be the test case, I know a good attorney - I woke up next to her this morning.
