You are right about that part.

This is why I make sure my 6 year old carries in a good, solid holster like a Comptac Mtac. Her Kahr PM9 has a drop safety too.

My speculation:
I guess, the real owner of the gun, stored the handgun in his kid backpack when the LEO were around and/or the owner was afraid that LEO would conduct a search. Owner never removed the handgun when the kid went to school. The owner most likely is prohibited from having a firearms.


I doubt that a 6-yr old kid, would be interested in having a gun at school and in his backpack.

"School shooting" my hiney! It was a accidental or negligent discharge NOT someone shooting up the place! Oh, but the media calls it a "shooting" because it "sells" ...

Maybe the school was not properly posted. I feel sure the young man would have left his weapon with his bike if he had seen gun buster signs.

I bet everything that the gun went off before it was dropped. Little liars would all immediately claim they didn't pull the trigger. LOL... yeah... it just went off when it hit the ground. There is no predicting what one of those evil guns will do next.

Has anyone else noticed the overreaction from the school. One shot hit the ground and kicked up fragments which resulted in scratches to the kids' legs. So they were each transported by an ambulance to the hospital to be treated for these scratches.

Doesn't Houstin ISD pay for school nurses anymore? Can't an EMT put a band-aid on a scratch without transporting anymore? Something in this story is not adding up, besides the gun firing when it was dropped from half the normal height (a six year old can't be much taller than half an adult's height, can he?).

No vehicle involved (school is probably immune); guess they might sue someone allowing access to the gun.

Anyone filing a frivolous lawsuit against a school district may end up paying a lot later.

And, that's my layman's opinion, worth every cent paid for it

Interesting. I am one of those folks who did not know that schools had immunity from lawsuits. Maybe they won't be lining up.

It was probably more of a fearful overreaction. "My kid was shot and they didn't even call an ambulance!" makes a sympathetic cry.

The father of the child who brought the gun to school doesn't know how the boy got the gun.
