One word of advise with looper belt or any kydex belt is be carefully when tightening not to bend belt to far or you can break the kydex. If you do it will still operate just fine

The same goes for the leather belts. Don't even roll them in a tight coil.

I know OP has already decided to go with Looper, but looking at theirs reminded me of another good leather belt geared toward LE .... What do y'all think about the Beltman Horsehide belts? They seem like they would be a little sturdier than the Bullhide.

I'm looking to upgrade as soon as I lose a little weight, and want a belt that does not need an internal stiffener.

In stiffness, I thought bullhide was stiffer than horsehide, but horsehide is more impervious to moisture. However, I don't think you'll have any stiffness issues with either one from the Beltman.

According to the Beltman website the horsehide is stiffer. I am not sure why I didn't order the horsehide rather than bullhide. Maybe next time.

I don't remember whether I bought horsehide or bullhide, but my Beltman belt is still 100% stiff after hard use and still going strong.

I ordered a Carhartt Jean Belt and recieved it yesterday. Hopefully I'll get my CBST in the mail soon to see how they work together. For $25 its worth the risk to me.

Thanks to all for the input in this thread so far. I've been trying to decide which "nice" belt to order (my Instructor's Belt just loks all wrong with slacks and a tie!) and I finally decided. I just ordered a Comp-Tac belt. It seems to me to offer the most for the money. To get the equivalent of the $85 Comp-Tac from Beltman would cost $105, as the Kydex stiffener and tapered ends are extra charges ($10 and $15 respectively) from Beltman. Any cheaper belt I've found, such as the Looper Leather belt, doesn't have the taper option and is straight cut, rather than contoured. I really want the tapered ends, as this will be an every day belt to wear with dress slacks, and I think the tapered ends will look nicer. So far, Comp-Tac has kept me updated (my belt is currently in production) and I'm looking foward to getting it in the next 3-5 days. I'll post my thoughts on the belt when it arrives.

Wow! These guys are good! I just got an e-mail saying that my belt has already been shipped via USPS Priority Mail. I should have it in 2-3 days.

I got the belt today and it's really nice. However, I seem to have lost more weight than I realized. The size 40 I ordered is too big and I'm alomost on the last hole. If (when) I lose more wieght, this belt will be useless to me. Looks like I'll be calling for an RMA tomorrow to exchange this belt for a 38. Too bad, I really wanted to were it this weekend.

You've got to be careful when ordering belts, most manufacturers measure their belts slightly differently; as such you have to take care to order based on their very strict insturction on measuring yourself. On top of that, pants size has nothing to do with belt measurement as pant makers have a wide range within their lines. Thus, you may be a 36 in Levi's, but you may measure out the belt to be a 33 or a 38, just never know.

Comp-Tac only offers even sizes, and, by their measuring instructions, I needed a 39. So, I figured it would be safer to err on the generous side and order a 40. It turns out that would only give me 1 hole left to adjust the belt when I lose weight. So, back it goes to be exchanged for a 38. Sometimes, no matter how well you follow instructions, you just won't know for sure until you actually try the item on.
