I've had a Beretta Neos U22 forseveral years, and its been a great gun. It has a 6" barrel and full-length Picatinny rail. I've been using a Sight Mark holographic sight on it lately, and have been having really good results at distances out to 20 or 25 yards. Also have yet to find any ammo (brand or bullet weight) that it does not like.

No experience with any other 22 target pistols, so I may be biased.

Depends on the bbl length and other factors. There are 10 different models of the 22A. Inexpensive though.

Have you checked your serial number to see if it's in the Headspace recall range? This recall applies only to 22-A pistols manufactured from August 1, 2008 to February 19, 2009. Affected pistols fall within the following serial number range:

UBW0000 - UBW9999
UBY0000 - UBY4104

i have ruger mark 3 hunter.the nice thing about them is their is aftermarket aluminum barrels and you can get a integrated supressor for them too.yea their a little bit of a puzzle to take apart and put back together but their is tons of video on youtube on how to do this.

It is, and the previous owner had it fixed before he sold it. Unless there's another recall on them that I'm unaware of. Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it when I get home.

I have a Neos as well and for the 200 rounds we got through it before the sear spring broke the day after I bought it, it was a fun gun to shoot. The full length rail across the top makes it easy to mount anything on it. We got a BSA red dot to put on it and I look forward when it gets back from vacation.

Which pistol you choose should reflect the purpose. I carry a Bersa Plus 380 15+1. I own a Firestorm (Bersa) 22LR which has exactly the same size/weight/shape and feel and practice drawing, shooting from different positions and such with the 22LR because of the cost of ammo. I have a Ruger 22/45 MKIII for very accurate target shooting. Until recently, I used a reddot scope and it was good to about 25 yards. (I took the scope off and use it on my 597 Archangel (AR-15 type rifle chambered in 22LR). The Ruger pistol may seem heavy if you are used to a 20 oz or lighter pistol but the heavy and longer barrel greatly increase its accuracy. The Ruger is a bit of a chore to break down but not as bad as some folks make it to be. Both my pistols are ammo sensitive and neither like Federal. For general plinking Blazer works as well as anything.

The purpose as I said is for target shooting only. As for weight, it's not a question of what I'm used to, it's a question of "shake" when aiming due to diminished arm strength. A heavy pistol with a long barrel will do me no good, as keeping the sight on target will be a real challenge due to weight. So, I have to compromise. I do have a 22lr upper on a G26 that I have used for CCW practice, but I mainly practice with my full caliber CCW guns. This 22lr is only for plinking at plates and paper. Just for fun. Thanks

If you have a choice between a MK 2 and a MK 3, get the MK2. Mk 3s come with a magazine safety and a loaded chamber indicator. Both are useless features and most serious shooters remove them.

I have a Mk2 with a slabside 7" barrel. If I were to do it again I would get a 4-5" barrel, the longer barrel and sight radius are not really needed and make it heavy and clumsy. I would stay away from the Ruger Hunter series, the big [abbreviated profanity deleted] front sight and wide V rear sight is not good for accurate shooting.

There are a ton of aftermarket parts and accessories for Ruger 22 pistols, not so for Browning.

+1 for the neos I have one and recently stuck a cheap scopre on it and decided once I have a job a decent one will be on top of it wife loves it. It eats cheap bricks of ammo but do have to clean it every few hundred rounds or it starts to jam (300 or so).

+1 for the S&W 22a. I've had mine for on the order of 8-10 years. Fine gun. Easy to shoot, easy to clean, easy to disassemble/reassemble.

S&W Mod. 41 if money is no object.

Even lower prices for a High Standard Victor. I don't know if the newer High Standards are as good the older builds, but they are extremely accurate, reliable, durable and ergonomic.
