The other day my girl got hit in her car by a guy who backed into her. Four officers showed up because the guy had several warrants. When I got there I chatted up some small talk with the cops and we starting talking about patrol cars and guns. All but one of them had 1911s and they were amazed that I was concealing a Glock 20 and they could not see any printing. If you want it to disappear dress around it!

I guess I can wear whatever I want. No one will ever read the word Glock when I carry.

I was really worried about printing and I wasn't wanting to have to completely change the way I dress, especially at work. I've been experimenting with different setups, this is my favorite so far.

I'm using a FIST Kydex K8 holster with a mad version of Velcro made by 3M called 'Dual Lock' that does the trick. It completely removes even the clips on your belt. I think even another CHL'er would have a hard time picking me out:

I travel a lot and I have picked out more air marshals than anyone on the street. They are the worst. Especially the one that dropped a loaded mag across the tile of DFW. And the other one that wore a tight white dress shirt. I learn from them.

And he'd say it's concealed if you're not paying too much attention. And even he would go on about how he could walk around Wal-Mart like that and very rarely have anyone give it a second glance.
He is right.

When I lived in Ohio I frequently carried using an IWB holster, shirt tucked in, and the grip/rear of slide showing in plain sight above the belt. I'd be out in public like that every day and I would have maybe one or two incidents per year where the sheeple noticed. Even police didn't notice. For example, the local grocery store that I shopped 3-x per week often had police near the cash registers who never noticed. There was one time he came up to me and said a customer came to him and was scared because I had a gun. He told the customer that open carrying of firearms was perfectly legal in Ohio, but that he would talk with me. We had a friendly exchange, I noted that it was the first time someone had mentioned anything although I was a frequent shopper, he didn't ask for ID (wasn't a Terry stop), and that was that.

Now that I am wearing an IWB holster with the shirt tucked in concealing the grip here in Texas, the thought that someone will see the gun literally never crosses my mind. If sheep don't see it in plain sight, they sure aren't going to notice it concealed.

I've posted before, but my first carry experience was in NY after a day of sighting in my new hunting handgun, a .45 Colt Blackhawk 5.5" barrel. A couple buddies and I were shooting, getting ready for deer season and after we finished wanted to get a bite to eat. Instead of getting take out, we stop at a local sit down diner that is PACKED.

Shoulder holster (vertical), a camp shirt and no one ever said a thing.

So, NY, big gun, 23 years old, crowded place and first time carrying in public. My friends didn't even realize that I still had it on me. I haven't worried about it in the last 10 years...

It has to be noticable by the "average" person. A retired or employeed law enforcment personnell is not the average person, they are trained individuals.
