What a shame, I'd love to see the TSA try to enforce it. Time to call state senators.

Forget about it. The online press has already picked up on the purport of this. Texas has no respect now, for real. Everyone will now walk over us, as did the Bradies and TSA. Sorry for the negatives, but this outcome is bigger than it would have seemed. All hat, no cattle.Kythas wrote:I believe it would properly be called The Republic of Texas.stealthfightrf17 wrote:United State Of Texas- Just saying
Wouldn't standing for "Liberty" be NOT pulling the bill? If this bill was passed, the TSA gropers (federal employees) would have effective immunity to the State law (making it mostly symbolic). I would have called their bluff and get/keep the TSA groping debate going.“I will pull HB 1937 down, but I will stand for Liberty in the state of Texas,” Patrick said.
Patrick added that TSA officials had warned him passing the bill “could close down all the airports in Texas,” which he regarded as a ‘heavy handed threat’ by the federal government.
The staff of Rep. David Simpson said the DOJ had “thrown down the gauntlet” in using such stark language to oppose the bill.
So far, it is apparent that the GOP is not in control as it thinks it is...Slowplay wrote:Senate sponsor Dan Patrick (R-Houston) pulled the bill:

I can't believe they would pull this bill in reaction to the bullying by the feds. That's weak.
Yes, that's the law that the bill was trying to amend to make it clear that it applied to TSA. Idaho has a law against murder and tried to invoke it in Ruby Ridge case, but ultimately lost to the Feds.Beiruty wrote:Don't Texas have Sexual Assult law? Sure. Look it up. It is a felony too. Fondling (touching private parts) of a child is a felony.
We need that time back.“There was a time in this state, there was a time in our history, where we stood up to the federal government and we did not cower to rules and policies that invaded the privacy of Texans,”
We need to bring Sheriff Joe Arpaio in here. He'd have no problem arresting them.Jeff Barriault wrote: We just need some sheriffs with enough balls to go in and arrest a few TSA agents.
