Thanks for sharing, Flint. At what distance do you usually take the hogs with that rifle? The little bit of reading I've done on the .458 SOCOM suggests to me it is a bit more of an up close and personal round.

Most of my shots occur at less than 100 yds. (typically 60-75 yds)...but the SOCOM is good out to about 150 yds before the trajectory starts to "rainbow".

I shoot primarily two different weight bullets through it, 300 grain and 405 grain, but the SOCOM will shoot anything from a 100 gr. pill (yes 100) up to a 600 gr. bullet.

The main advantages (for my purposes) are being able to shoot hogs (of any size) at nearly any angle (and get good penetration), and have the ability for quick follow up shots. Multiple targets are not uncommon.

Very interesting...thanks. I'm still wanting to go on my first hog hunt but have been looking at various hog AR builds for a while now.

Without going into every detail.

A-3 flat-top Upper Receiver

PacNor Super Match 16” Stainless bull barrel (1:14 twist) threaded to accommodate suppressor or muzzle brake.

YHM free float tube.

Weaver Classic Extreme 1.5 X 4.5 X 24mm w/German #4 illuminated reticle.

LaRue QD scope mount.

Olight Warrior M20 Tactical Flashlight.

Aixiz 25 mW Green Laser with momentary switch.
Could I have some details on the laser? I've been looking for a high powered one but all I see are the 5mw due to the FDA being confused about the whole "Food and drug" thing.
