I sure hope that's not step one in your use of force continuum.

Nossir. Fortunately, those days are basically over for me. My point remains though-- when your outguned, outsized, or outnumbered you have no other choice. This does somewhat apply to CHL because we would take defensive action, not offense. If your not faster, more accurate, and more aggressive in your reaction your pretty much dead.

Ya know what. I didn't like my reply. Let me rephrase. When your in an offensive posture, you are able to dictate the amount of agression/violence to your target. When you are in a defensive posture, it's necessary to react with more agression/violence in order to win a gunfight. Reasoning behind this is that you aren't calling the shots, and only on the rarest of occasions are you going to have any idea whatsoever of what you are walking in to. When reacting, you can always rely on your predator fight/flight instincts to kick in--agression & violence or split second judgement in flight. You most likely wont have a chance to make any tactical maneuvers or "smart decisions," unless by muscle memory or more likely, accident. So yes, that would definately be my posture/reaction to a personal threat.
That said, on occasions some folks have had the opportunity to de-escalate and bring the situation back to a peaceful resolution. When or if this fails, in my experience (not opinion), you had better be willing to match your opponents desire to make things happen. Being the better man, honorable, or whatever adjective folks like to use is useless when under fire. It's either die or kill. Thats one of the problems I have with some of the books that are out there--they dont like to associate "violence or agression" with a law abiding citizen who carry, and to be honest if I were on the stand for defending myself I wouldn't use them either. It makes us look too much like a wolf, but never forget that the sheepdog has teeth, aggressive instincts, and extremely violent tendencies when provoked. Thats what keeps us from being sheep.
Hooyah, and I appologize in advance if this seems like I took your comment personally. I didn't, but upon reading my comment again I can see that it could make me look like an idiot without further explanation !

I think there's some space available at Guantanamo. Make 'em share a cell with a jihadist.

When we had that situation with my daughter back in October, we spent weeks looking through sex offender databases and didn't find him. Arlington PD suggested I look in a 10 mile radius, it was sickening.

Clearly the guy in the pic from the OP is a dirt bag. If others of you do have an Offender living near you, I would however encourage you to research the type of Offender they are.
For instance, our HOA crucified a poor guy that moved into our neighborhood. I took the time and paid (I think) $1.99 to see his actual case. He had exposed himself during a consensual act with a 15 year old when he was 18. If this right, heck no! Is this in the same category as sexual aggression on a 5 year old, I don’t think so.

One of my friends in college is a Registered Sex Offender for Life because, when he was 18, he fooled around with his 17-yo GF and her dad was mad about it. I think it might've even been her idea.

2 weeks ago I got the call that a guy I've known for around 8 years got hauled off for having a chest full of photos of the younger generation. He had been staying with a mutual friend who has an 8 year old daughter. In that mess they found a scrap book of pictures and love letters about a 9 year old girl from different friends family. Just proves that you can't even count out your own friends, people that you thought you could trust, from being the scum of the earth. This guy wasn't even the first that I knew or trusted to get busted for this. All you can do in today's world is watch out for you, it's getting rough!

Where was that? In Texas there has to be at least 3 years age difference between them before it's statutorily considered assault, unless she claimed he raped her.

IIRC, that's what her dad claimed. Unfortunately for this conversation, he's not one of the people I've kept in touch with, so I can't just call him and get the details.

How does this guy get a probated sentence for Aggravated Sexual assault of a child, especially 5 years old? There needs to be a new judge in someone's criminal court.
