I was not able to get any better pictures last night as we spent it at Scott and White Hospital in Temple (another long story for another time)*.

Here is another one from the phone. You can see the remnants of the ringworm on his backside and the scrapes on his face.

Our Jack Russell is really being patient with him. Anyone that has had much exposure to JRTs can tell you that they are normally a one owner-one pet type of animal and require 100% attention almost 100% of the time. (I spent well over 20 hours getting Jack to "smile" (see avatar picture) on demand. We think he enjoys learning new things and is always eager to please.) We spend time each day trying to teach Jack something new. Believing that no dog is too early to learn we plan on integrating Lucky into our daily training as soon as he has healed a bit more.

BTW: The North Tower is not 30.06 posted. The ER is but only in English.

Absolutely! I have always said if someone knocked on my door and said they needed a shirt, I would give them the one off of my back. However, if you steal it off my clothesline you might just get a lead infusion.

Lucky's update:

As with any puppy he is trying (and then some)! He is about 95% house broken and will obey reward based commands. Our JRT is slowing becoming accustomed to him and we have only had a couple of if spats.

Lucky was less than four pounds when he found us; he now weighs 14 lbs. For those, like us, that tried to guess his breed, we now have his DNA results back. You can view them here. The big surprise for us: Part St. Bernard!

Adopting a puppy, so far, has been very rewarding for us! You can find a puppy that needs a home here.

i8godzilla: Great story, and thanks for the pictures. Part St. Bernard...? I bet the other part is Border Collie. Lucky's hair and head / body shape looks just like our dog that we got from a co-worker friend. His dog was a full blood border collie that had a 'vist' from a roaming male. We took one of the pups and now have a 23lb awesome dog. Loveable but a big time guard dog. She is fast and can jump like crazy, even straight up. Only no white markings on ours. Hope you continue to post future updates.

We celebrated Lucky's first birthday yesterday. We did not know the actual date but guessed after talking to the vet. Lucky is turning in to a real good companion. Our JRT enjoys playing with him--on his own terms. The vet says he is healthy. He now weighs 60 lbs. He has not gained any weight in the last two months so let's hope this is as big as he is going to get.

That is a great looking pup. Good for you and your wife for the heroics involved here. Yes, to Lucky you are heros and he will be forever greatful.

All of ours are rescues and the funny thing is, none of them like other dogs in the yard much less the house (daughter does pet sitting) but they seem to know when we bring one home to keep. Rarely have we had a spat and when we do it usually the ne one that starts it. Also we have watched the older dogs "train" the new ones. They will scold them when there is an accident (our golden actually pushed our newest one all the way to the door when she had an accident) and ususally teach them the do's and don'ts of the house.

But the greatest thing is the unconditional love that they all give. Doesn't matter if you have had the worst day, they always try to make it better.

Great story. We all get back what we give and we so you have built up some good karma. You never know when you might need someone to pick out your thorns and give you a good meal. You did the right thing.

Rescue dogs are great. I've got one staring at me as I type this.

It looks like Lucky has grown to fit his feet. When we took our Beau to be "fixed" the vet said "Oh so you own that scruffy dog with the big feet." I told him yes and my wife said she thought he was part Clydesdale. I said no he's a parts box dog. Beau is about 2 now and still has the biggest feet I've ever seen on a dog. Lucky is very lucky to find a home that loves him like y'all do.
