The Annoyed Man wrote: I agree. I tend to be an ideological purist during primaries, but then I get behind the party choice during the general elections. The reason is that all the ideological purity in the world isn't worth a cup of warm spit if you lose the election, and the other fellow who wins is the representation of his side's ideological purity. In the real world, that means losing to Obama. Again. This country can't afford that. I would rather vote for Pepie La Pew if he might beat Obama. I'd vote for Roger Rabbit, Yogi Bear, the Dalai Lama, Red Buttons, the Mr. Clean guy, or that sordid cockroach in the Orkin Exterminators ads if I thought any of them could beat Obama. How about Netenyahu? He wasn't born here, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore.
This is precisely where I am at. There are a few on the republican stage that I like much less than the others, but I fear very much if our nation has to endure another 4 years of the current administration. So whoever gets the elephants nod, be that Bob the Tomato, Harry Potter, Bugs Bunny, or even Guy Smiley (Mitt Romney) they will get my vote. Right now though I am looking over the candidates really closely for what they would really be beneath all the smiles and lights. Right now Perry looks good, Bachmann I like (not sure if she is ready for the oval office--but would be a sight better than what we got now), Cain I like, and Santorum. Pawlenty I have a neutral opinion on. Huntsman I don't know him yet. Ron Paul I love as a legislator, not so much for president. Mitt Romney--well I am still wondering if he even knows where he stands on issues. Those are the current horses in the race that I know of.

...don't forget the many promises made by his underlings as they rallied his people to vote for him...a black woman was overheard by my best friend at a Krogers' loudly boasting "Now that we got President Obama, he's gonna pay our 'lectric bill for us"...that man was elected by ignorance as much as the other reasons given...and he's kept none of his promises to ANYONE...much less to his people who thought he would be for them...politics has become a cesspool in this country and he fits right in...

We're going off on a heck of a tangent from the original post, but the phrase "elections have consequences" comes to mind. The biggest consequence the next presidential election will have is at least one of the Supreme Court justices WILL retire or die. Considering Heller was a 5-4 vote, we REALLY need a good appointment.

Considering who he appointed to his cabinet, Travers for the ATF etc, how likely is it an Obama appointed candidate is pro 2A? I'd give it about as much chance of me being a longhorn fan. (I'm an Aggie for those who don't know, so in other words....zero chance. "rlol" )

...it all rolls together into the reasons for what's happening in this case...they do to us what we let them do...they abuse their power and ignore both the law, intent of the law...until we bring them to a screeching halt...we have a lot of work to do, not just in 2012, but in every election at every level...to fix this mess that caused this atrocity to happen...

Obama got elected because:
1. Too many Americans are easily fooled by smooth rhetoric and empty promises. They mistake bad proposals for "progress".... and
2. Because America saw a well-educated, well-spoken black man that everyone else seemed to be ready to vote for (groupthink). Voting for Obama gave them the feeling that they could hold their chests out proudly and declare that they were not a racist because they voted for a black man.
Thats pretty much the way I figure it. The white americans who voted for him to prove to themselves they werent racist have gotten it off their chest and are regretting it so he lost that vote. He also probably lost a bit of the black vote since he has screwed them over pretty well too, but not a lot of it. From office chatter I hear there are a lot of morons that still believe in him, blinded by his skin color most likely. The MSM will push him hard again but I think he lost too much of his base to win at this point. But, if the repubs run another loser then he might win easily.

To focus this back on the 2A topic of this failed ATF operation, I REALLY would like to see someone who CARES about 2A voters and Americans' firearms rights get elected. And, if we could get enough good folks in both the House and Senate, maybe some meaningful reforms of that overblown agency could get through the pipeline and onto the new President's desk for signature. I'd like to DREAM of no BATFE at all, but I am enough of a realist to know that isn't going to happen. SO, I would settle for them getting their horns trimmed and having some REAL boundaries set for them to operate in, and to have their focus on ACTUAL firearms smugglers and folks hording explosives for nefarious purposes...as it is right now, we see where their sights are set, and I don't like feeling that us regular folks are in them.
