And my packet from AZ is on its way toward me right now. Just hit their website, punched contact, asked for them to send me a packet at name/address and would be using my TX CHL as my proof. Got response in 11 minutes. Its on its way and super quick and painless!

Thanks for the tickler - I went ahead and requested a packet as well, via their email form. I got a kick out of the counter on their homepage, showing how many licenses have been issued! Wonder if it updates in near-real time.

Does anyone know how long the $60 permit is good for? It's irritating to have to pay extra for a Maine non-res CHL, then an AZ non-res CHL, etc etc... :-(

Since AZ is the first state they recognize that offers a non-resident license, I suspect that is why Texas is not recognized.

They really don't recognize there own. Something about you have to be qualified on the gun you carry. Then can't switch without getting qualified again.

I have no interest in carrying in Las Vegas.

The consensus from what I've read is that Texas will issue a CHL at age 18 for active duty military and Nevada minimum is 21. If that's the case, I don't know why they couldn't recognize Texas CHL for age 21 and over.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, is what I left in Nevada. I try not to travel, or do business, where my Texas CHL is not welcome. Should you go to Las Veagas with your newfound CCL, you might want to avoid the Costco's.

I've also got my request in, and they're sending me a packet. Wife wants to go on vacation in October, including a few days in Vegas.

Texgun: how exhaustive is the application? I remember my initial application for the Texas CHL took me forever to fill out, simply because I had to remember every job and place I'd lived with correlating dates going back forever.

The current rule is that you have to qualify with every gun you might carry. Most of the classes are held at ranges where they have a lot of rental guns and they can rent you guns to run through each one you might have. The place I was setting up to go charges nothing for the class but charges $25/gun for range qual. I believe that the new legislation that goes into effect shortly actually changes that to where you qualify by caliber. So whatever is the highest caliber you qualify with (and that might be separated into revolver and non-revolver) will cover anything under that caliber. So bring in that Dessert Eagle 50 with your S&W 500 and get them covered . If that is the case, the range ought to actually rent those guns and sell the ammo and make good money...not to mention probably sell a few of the guns once folks shoot them.

Oh and the range qualification does have a portion that is single handed shooting with both left and right hand. Thought that was interesting!

The ambidextrous shooting requirement is because the Las Vegas cops might come at you from either direction; however, no one has your back.

The application takes about 2 minutes to fill out. It's basically this application.

With a section to list the training requirements, for which I just stated Texas CHL issued by Texas DPS, but did not abbreviate. Included a front back photocopy of my CHL, passport, and certificate of naturalization. Once they entered my info the permit was issued in and in my hands in less than 4 days.

Oh it also includes a page that you must sign that states that you have read AZ law(they include the link) and are aware of their PCs regarding CCW.

I'm sorry, forgot to add, yes they include a fingerprint card that must be filled out, they don't care who does the prints. The lady at the AZ DPS even told me, If I felt I could do them, feel free to do them myself.

I paid a service to do it.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering because Centre County PA didn't require prints if you sent a copy of your CHL.
