Mila Kunis is more than just an actress, she's my favorite actress. Cute, funny and personable. I am so glad to see that over the years since leaving that 70's show, she has done well.

She has always come across as a nice person, not the typical Hollywood type. Her accepting this invitation fits my belief perfectly.

This latest event, certainly timed for the release of her new movie, is still a wonderful gesture to this Marine and to the armed forces in general.

What a lucky guy.

If you haven't seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall, she takes a small part and steals the movie.

The parents were professionals in Russia, but brought no money with them; they ended up working for a cab company and a pharmacy. And Mila knew not a single word of English when she hit these shores. No special speech therapists: she was tossed into public elementary school in Los Angeles.
That is exactly how I learned French. I got dumped into a French public school at age 7 or 8, and inside of a month I was chattering in French like a monkey. Kids' minds are sponges for languages at that age. "French as a second language" classes? Pfffffft! We ought to do the same for our public schools at the grammar school level. You're not doing anyone any favors by insulating them from a requirement to learn our language in order to do well in school, and the very best classroom for language learning for kids is the playground. If you leave them alone to figure it out, strangely enough, they do; and all without any messianic intervention from well-intentioned but misguided teachers.

OK.... Rant Off. :mrgreen: sorry for the off-topic sideboard.
When I started first grade in the Panhandle town of Fritch, Texas, one of the kids in my class, Victor Sanchez, did not speak English at all. By Christmas even Mrs. Mitchell couldn't get him to shut up. At one time his family was an across the street neighbor. We had a lot of fun as kids. :thumbs2:

Can't really blame her for her work schedule. It's not like she had her assistant by her side to verify if she was available that day.
I bet next time she will say something like "I would love to if my schedule allows it".

Just saw this on Fox this morning, Miss Kunis did attend the ball with Sgt. Moore. The Marine was on FoxNews this morning and talked a bit about it, said they spent five hours together, and he showed some photos.

Also of note, Justin Timberlake - Kunis' film co-star who originally encouraged her to accept the invite - received an invite of his own from a female Marine and attended the function with her. Some great quotes from him about how moved he was by the whole experience.

Just read this open letter on Timberlake's web site http://www.justintimberlake.com/news/my ... corps_ball" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And I gotta say, it's worth a moment to read. Seems genuine and heartfelt.

Now how do explain to my wife the browser history of looking at Justin Timberlake's web site?
:oops:

Wow. I shouldn't have read that at work. It made me all mushy and stuff.

Kudos to both of these fine young representatives of todays generation.

Gotta say I'm proud of her. I really didn't expect her to go through with it.
