Or sell me a J-frame or other snubby for 100 bucks?:
If you want to sell one of your Glocks, let me know. :smilelol5:

I think it's hard to go wrong with a snubby as a BUG. It's one of the few I'm looking at for pocket carry myself. Do you think the rubber grip on the LCR would hang up in the pocket when trying to draw it? Also, which LCR are you looking at? .38 or .357? Let us know what you decide. :thumbs2:

SQL,

Well, I can get the 357 for just a tad more, so I will probably end up getting that. Option to shoot .38 and carr either .38+P or 357 is prety diverse.

Sell Glocks? No way, Jose. LoL. They aren't going anwhere.

...from the peanut gallery...I wish you'd give thought to an all steel (stainless Bodyguard 649).....38..not too heavy for any carry...makes hot loads much more controllable and practice more fun...with Compac grips, you can handle it well...and it's still easy to conceal...the lightweight .38 will beat you like a big stick...and you won't practice enough with it...it takes a lot of practice to get the most accuracy outa a snub...I found mine in the used market...shopping for a twin to it...not $200...but worth the 350 I paid...

You need to remember that you have to be able to fit not just the gun in your pocket, but the gun with your fist wrapped around it.

I recently bought an LCP which easily fits in my front pocket, but even it is a bit of a struggle to get out quickly because the denim at the top of the pocket is a lot snugger than the pocket itself.

apostate wrote:Pocket carry of a 642 works great for me. It's comfortable and conceals well. Presentation is not as quick as IWB but it's not too bad. My only real issue with pocket carry is habit. I usually carry my DL & CHL in a card case in my non-keys front pocket. Having my license and handgun in the same pocket could pose a challenge if a peace officer asks for ID.
Could?

If you tell the officer the gun and ID are in the same pocket, you're virtually guaranteeing that you'll be disarmed. That's not a pleasant experience. If you don't, you risk a much dicier proposition that is so obvious it shouldn't need description here.

You definitely want to find another place for the DL/CHL holder. One of the tiny flat "wallets" that holds just a few credit cards is a good solution and can comfortably and invisibly go in any other pocket - preferably on the side of the body opposite where you carry the gun. WalMart sells a couple of types that fit this bill nicely.

You also shouldn't carry anything else in the same pocket as the gun. The least worst thing that could happen is scratching your gun. The possibilities go downhill from there to entanglement and / or ND's with severe injury to yourself or others.

Those are unnecessary risks that are easy to avoid with a little planning.

I pocket carry a Ruger SP-101 with a Nemesis holster in just about every type of pants/shorts imaginable; deep pockets, shallow pockets, tighter pants, looser pants. No problem. Even if it bulges, I think there is zero chance of an observer concluding that it is a gun instead of a wallet. It is easy to draw (though it took some practice covering the hammer on the way out). As for weight and discomfort - I usually forget about it, but when it reminds me that it is there, my heart warms and I have to give it a loving pat.

I too have foregone the LCP for pocket carrying a snubbie. I don't find pocket carry as comfortable as IWB, partly because I spend a lot of time sitting down in front of a computer (don't notice is so much when I'm walking or standing), but find it a very good alternative with both jeans and slacks when IWB is not practical. Maybe it's all in my head but dark slacks also seem to conceal better than khaki or other lighter colored slacks.

It's not in your head.

Dark colors mask contours better than lighter ones.

You are now bringing my love for that particular smith back again. I shot one a while back, and it was a handful... but I liked it. If I can find one for a better price than a LCR i will likely pick it up. The thing is, i can buy a NIB LCR for something like $360 at GT Distributers. And I personally give every penny I can to GT, they are fantastic folks with great customer service.

That isn't true for me. Could it be the grip? My snubbie feels pretty good with CT overmold grips. I find an LCP much more unpleasant to shoot than either an LCR or a S&W airweight. I find a .380 PPK even more unpleasant. I enjoy shooting snubbies. Also, I've found that dry firing with a CT laser significantly improves my accuracy at the range.

I see your dilemma. Some may disagree, but I think you ought to keep the wife.

Of course the wife stays. You have no idea how hard I worked to get her and make her my wife, I have no intention of ever letting that sassy little asian beauty queen go :) Ever.

That said, she tends to be a very rational and generous person. It's my birthday so she my make an exception!

...OK, I'll be a sissy...I've got big paws but they're not beefy...I can't stand to shoot a M12 or any other airweight I've shot in the K or J sizes...more than 10 rds. or so...50's no problem with the all-steel...I'd say I've got the best grips on there..Packy Compac, not the shorter Compac Pro...everyone I've recommended them to loves 'em...I just want all the pain to be on the other end...I didn't like the PPK/S I had either...won't buy any size .380...those lasers are nice but too pricey for my taste...that's half a gun!!!

Well, the beauty queen has spoken :) I now have permission to go find and purchase either an LCR, or 442\642 J frame. Her only request is that it have crimson trace grips on it (this is going to be what I pass down to her once she gets her CHL.) So out into the market I courageously go! If any of yall see anything I need to look at, let me know. Better yet, if you have anything to get rid of that might interest me let me know! I'm gonna sit on the forum classifieds until I can find something.
