I don't know about the devil part but I will definitely agree to being fed up with the whole bunch of 'em.

Perry is the Texas version of Bill Clinton....he can sound good to whomever he's talking to at the time....social conservatives, business leaders, Tea Party, RHINO's, etc.....he's a master at target marketing.
The problem I have with Perry is that he brings a lot of baggage with him into the race, such as:
1. Approving an illegal income tax:
http://www.kutnews.org/post/suit-allege ... income-tax
2. Controversy with the Texas Enterprise Fund:
http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-pol ... 04912.html,
http://info.tpj.org/watchyourassets/enterprise2/index
3. Selling Texas-built roads to foreign companies:
http://www.statesman.com/news/local/per ... 93585.html
4. Using state funds to bring Formula 1 Racing to Austin, and charges of bribery on the F1 head:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motors ... bribe.html,
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/1 ... 60447.html
5. Wishy-washy illegal alien policies:
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011 ... l-race.php,
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011 ... l-race.php
6. Massive cuts to education in Texas while other business-related projects remain untouched:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/n ... rry01.html,

Perry's been good at letting his policy controversies slide off his back in Texas....but I don't think he'll be as successful in the national media. And I'd rather see him get trounced in the GOP primary by a good candidate than to win the Repub nomination and get blasted by all of this in the general election....and guarantee Obama a second go at gutting our nation....

Being fairly new to Texas, I don't know Rick Perry.
Said to my wife last year that members of this forum seem to have some misgivings about him.
I think the US is not ready for another Texan.
He is slick. I don't like slick.
That's my opinion.
But if he is the candidate, he has my vote.

Apparently, I'm not the only one concerned with Perry's vulnerabilities....

If anyone thinks the New York Times and the Washington Post are Left Wing, you ain't seen nothin' when it come to McClatchy Newspapers. The bulk of the article cites left wing sources - surprise! Just sayin'.

Some conservatives are also raising issues.
Lots of time for it to shake out though and see what sticks.

I know....and those are just the first things the Dems will use against Perry....and I really don't want Perry to be the reason that Obama gets a second term....

I agree, but any candidate will have baggage to address, and the left will find and distort whatever it can to destroy them. It's not just Perry that has baggage, they all do.

True...but Perry's baggage will be damaging when it comes to his supporters on the Right/Conservative/Tea Party votes.....a lot of which would rather stay home than vote in a Romney clone....

Yes, but some voters will stay home regardless of who wins the nomination if they don't fit their mold. Mods and Independents might stay home if any of the Conservative/Tea Party choices win, just as the Right/Conservative/Tea Party voters might stay home if a Romney or Perry wins. No one candidate appeals to all groups, and they all have baggage.

Anyone of you who stays home because you don't get the ideal candidate is helping to ensure another Obama victory. In 2008, Mr. McCain wasn't my ideal candidate, but I pulled the lever for him anyway, and I'm proud to say that. Whenever folks complain about this or that, I know that I didn't contribute to it. Its cold comfort and it doesn't really help, but I'll be blasted to Hades if I will let any of this be dumped at my feet, no matter how small a bit of it, because I didn't vote against it. If Gov. Perry gets the nomination, then he will have my vote...same for Mitt Romney. I don't care for the policies and ideology of the current administration, and will gladly vote for whomever the Republicans nominate. This nation CANNOT take four more years of this kind of goings on...just my 2 cents, IANAL, YMMV, and all that other disclaimer stuff.
Oh, and I agree with G26ster that a lot of those articles where the Governor has been slammed for various things, have come from either left-leaning, or fully leftist sources. The A-A Statesman...*smh*.

If the Republican Party doesn't nominate a conservative candidate, they're helping to ensure another Obama victory.
Fixed it for you.
