BTW, as an CHL instructor or CHL school owner, what is the average net income per year, Can you make $100k+ after 2-3 yrs?

I don't know about the other instructors on the site - - - I didn't do this to make a living or to get rich - - - I'm trying to enlighten people about guns and CHL. Call me a missionary of sorts.

I don't know of any instructor coming close to $100,000 and I've talked to many over the years. For example, if every student was a new student and the fee was $115, then an instructor would have to teach 870 students a year, or 72 a month. If all students were renewal students at $75, then the number of annual students rises to 1,333 annually, or 111 a month. Since all classes will contain a mix of new and renewal students, the actual number of students will fall somewhere in the middle. Also, I'm talking about $100,000 gross, not net profit.
Most instructors I know teach because they enjoy it, because they believe in the CHL program, or both.

I don't have a final word on this issue yet, but I believe that DPS is going to publish a PowerPoint that contains minimum information that must be taught, but instructors will be free to add to the material as they wish.

I have no objection to a standardized lesson, where everyone gets the same info. And, I am happy to teach a DPS approved lesson. Just don't force me to use their method to do it. Bear in mind, I have sat through my original 40 hour DPS instructor class. And 5 DPS renewals. Trust me, I have SEEN their Powerpoint. Not impressed with their ability to make it interesting.
Now, I might be a bit more Powerpoint savvy than some (Microsoft Certified Professional). A few embedded videos here and there, a little animation, and some surprise transistions go a long way toward keeping the class interesting, and it is not that hard to do.
If DPS forces me to use their Powerpoint, then I am probably done with this. I can go back to living a normal life with weekends off.
I heard the state bought a computer with DOS on it just to make the presentations. :)

I use a powerpoint in my class but had a projector problem in my class about a year ago so I had to present it. I found that it did not make that much of a difference because I simply lay out subject matter or scenarios for a particular area and then let the
students learn through class participation. This is why I teach CHL, to see the students get it so to speak, on their own. Lord knows its not for the money. My powerpoint is simply a training aid.

I bought an instructor's Lesson Plan and Student's Class Booklet for about 10 bucks each from the TXCHLIA's table at the Instructors Course. I then took them home and designed my own Powerpoint Presentation from the Lesson Plans. It was pretty rough. Took me about 3 days to complete the presentation as I had to decipher some of the stuff from the lesson plan and also put in some other stuff of my own to make it longer and kinda help it make some sense as some of the material in the lesson plan didn't make much sense. I ALSO bought an HD Projector from Dell that's HIGHLY portable and small, but packs a punch. It only cost me about $450. Several of my students have told me that they really liked the presentation, so I guess I did a fair job. LOL
