...I've read rave reviews of 100% reliability and multiple FTF reviews...just like any other brand/model...what intrigues me is the look of the grip angle...seems natural...I have yet to see one...

I didn't know S&W had entire shutdowns, but that may explain why I am still waiting over two weeks for a 9C I ordered. Back in the 1960's I sold sporting goods and my vendors told me all the major manuf shutdown usually in the fall and restarted beginning the first of the year.

Unless the loading ramp has been damaged or barrel and thus the chamber is misaligned I put my 2 cents on the magazine lips or follower.

If you look at the photo of the individual cartridge closely, it appears that it came from the factory that way. There are no scratches on the projectile ... For the casing to be folded back like that, there would be lines (scratches) on the bullet too.

I've never had a jam of any kind in my M&P45. Not ever. It is more reliable than any other gun I own, including my extraordinarily reliable 1911s.

I've seen that exact type of case problem twice. Once was a bad round of WWB that came out of the box looking like that, and the other was some hand loads I was trying to make, while trying to seat some particularly obstreperous hand-moulded .45 semi-wadcutters in their cases.

I won't go into a lot of detail but the M&P 9C I ordered at Carter's finally came. I ordered the 206304 but somehow they ordered a 151118 which is not even in the S&W catalogue. It's got luminous sights, other than that it's the same as the 206304. ie no mag safety, but has ambi thumb safety. I found the gun listed on a couple of online sellers so I know it's a legit S7W product but for who and why it was made is a mystery.

The reason I'm posting is that the magazines have outrageuosly stout follower springs. I am hoping they'll limber up (weaken) some with use. I can barely get them loaded. I have issues with my hands which makes things difficult but I loaded the M&P we rented at the Arms room with no problem. I can load my kahr, hi-powers, 1911's, and S&W Sigma 9mm and 40 SW with no problems. Do the mags get any easier to load? I have ordered an Uplula loader for my daughter since it's going to be her CCW and I want her to practice shooting without issues. (and no broken nails )

Brownell's sells extra power mag springs order one for each magazine you own. Put them in and most probably your problem will go away. I hope your polishing the feed ramp hasn't voided your warranty. Guns have only three enemies - - - Rust, Owners with Dremels, and gun grabbers.

I was very gentle and only used a cotton buffing pad to clean the ramp. And no - no problem with the warranty- Smith replaced the barrel at no charge and even threw in a new 17 round mag. Since getting the gun back, I've run about 200 rounds through it without any issues.
I will check out the mag springs you suggest. Thanks
