Ummmm...I think you missed it. If this was about Obama I would say yep right on the money. However this is about Perry--Perry seems pretty pro-second amendment.

An unexpected gun owner....
Early in Franklin Roosevelt’s
political career as governor of New York, Secret Service bodyguards
encouraged Eleanor to carry a revolver and her chauffeur from the
State Police provided instruction on how to properly shoot it.4 After
her husband’s passing, Eleanor moved to New York City where
following multiple death threats, she applied for and got a concealed
weapons permit.5 Given the bureaucratic difficulty in obtaining such
a license in that locality, it seems obvious she considered carrying a
pistol to be important, at least given her personal circumstances.
While continuing to be active in politics, both foreign and domestic;
near the end of her life Eleanor Roosevelt determined to go on a lecture tour against segregation in Southern states. The usually
hostile FBI warned of a $25,000 reward put out by the Ku Klux Klan
for her assassination; but in 1958 at age seventy-four, Roosevelt made the journey driving alone, with only her handgun for protection.6
Quoted from the American Gun Culture Report.

Someone needs to inform MR. Moody that Reagan habitually carried when he was president. And as Commander in chief, if any president wants to pack, he can. Mr. Moody's other sources would be well advised to return to law school. It seems they were inadequately instructed on their previous visit there.

Excerpt from article (quoting Gov Perry)
Of course, we won't really know how this would all come out until a president actually tries to pack heat on Washington's mean streets. Then again, we might not even get that far. When asked this week on the campaign trail if he was packing, Perry told Politico's Ben Smith, "I never comment on whether I'm carrying a handgun or not. That's why it's called concealed."
I'm sure Perry will be packing with or without the Secret Service's knowledge if he gets elected, law or not law. They won't know if he has it or not. Like Perry said, nobody will know whether he has it or not because that is why they call it concealed. I'm sure if Perry gets elected, that law in DC about firearms in the city might just get reverse REAL FAST. Wouldn't be surprised to see if that was one of the first order of business for him. Perry will be protecting himself as he's always done and not counting on the Secret Service to protect him. He's not perfect here in TX, but we already know he's a lot better than that pompus butt we have in office now.

Would it be legal a President to conceal carry everywhere? Of course who is going to make the President go through a metal detector?

It probably depends on whether or not he's considered a federal agent, as I believe feds are allowed to carry wherever they want.
If he's not (and that's my uneducated position), well, there is some funny stuff when POTUS security is involved... It'd probably be technically illegal, but I suspect that if he were ever caught, and the DA had the gall to press charges, the Governor of whatever State was involved would be somewhat expected to pardon him. Well, I know
I would expect him to be pardoned.

Can't arrest him, he's the boss of all fed law enforcement, can just give himself a pardon.

...that's the key, he's the Chief Officer of the executive branch of our Federal government...above every law enforcement officer in the federal government...of course he can carry...even in the Post Office...

I guess I'm gonna paint a target on myself and say he should not carry. I think as the President he should respect the law, any of us would go to prison for carrying in a government building, it should be the same for the President. I do not think any title or position entitles one to subvert the law. I would like to see him try to get the law changed and restore our rights and carry in the same way we do.

...I'm gonna be nice...that is NOT thinking clearly...Can the Chief of Police carry anywhere???? YES... can the Sheriff carry anywhere??? YES... can the head of the State Police carry anywhere??? Yes...
...including the post office...and the courthouse...
...so can the President of the United States, who is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the USA...he is totally respecting the law if he carries...we are NOT law enforcement officers(with a few most esteemed exceptions, here) and are forbidden by law to carry a lot of places where an LEO can carry...just as a Dr. can't practice medicine without a license...we can't carry anywhere we want without a badge(signifying training and authority)...that's the way we run our society...HE can't get the law changed...that's OUR job...

You learn something new everyday.
Of course if you don't learn something new everyday, then you aren't doing your job. - Paraphrased from former boss

One problem with your opinion. AS CIC and being over All Law enforcement in the US government, it can be successfully argued that POTUS is legally able to carry anywhere in this country. Though I do agree with your last phrase.

I can't imagine Romney carrying a gun. Hard to imagine him even holding one unless it was a photo op.
