In initial reading it looked like you were putting down the Vets. Your later post alleviates that concern a little. But in retrospect I worked for an officer that I had little respect for his ability, but I still had to respect the rank he carried on his collar/shoulders and work around him. I would stand for this president to enter a room, but I would not shake his hand.

...I, too had to obey (or work around) officers who had little ability and they did not have my respect...so I obeyed the rank...and got real good at working around them...
...military rules might demand that you stand and salute...but your heart is not with him, and he knows it...the military was set up so that the cream rose to the top and led men because they were worthy, respectable leaders who had their men's best interests at heart...not always so...sad to say...our fighting men and women deserve the best in every way...and they're not getting it...

I have respected the Office of the President my entire life. I have disagreed vehemently with the then current office holder on more that one occasion.

I find it difficult now to separate my disgust for the occupant and the office. This is a new low for our beloved country.

Hopefully we will just have till Jan. 2012 and then we can start getting our country back. I say hopefully because the Republicans
are doing a good job in axing themselves instead of focusing on the issues causing this country's demise.

Hopefully the Republicans can come together to unseat the present admin. If not the socialistic ideas of the present
admin will have anther 4 years to complete their "transformation of America..." that O promised he would do in his
campaign.

I have not read Perry's new book that he has out and do not recall the title but one Republican supporter in the news papers a
couple days ago said Perry should have made the title "How not to get elected President". Hopefully this is
not true and he or any Republican can unseat Mr. O.

As far as the admin dissing the VFW. I think that maybe they will change their minds and attend but the damage to them is
already done. I have always said that the Prez. does not respect the military and I think this decision shows that all too well.

I let my Dad know about this, he has been a member since 1970. Basically he got off the plane and joined the VFW :).
