Correct me if I'm wrong, but being delinquent in student loans is no longer a dis-qualifier as of like 3 years ago?

I did not pay the Taxes in hopes that the taxing authorities would take it

I ended up paying a lot of back taxes before my CHL could be issued

A lot of people are not aware of this requirement that you

don't owe any back taxes in texas to get a CHL

I may go fishing today. I will probably go TROLLING!

Maybe the appraisal district uses back taxes to increase the values each year. "rlol" Same concept when gov'ment raises excise taxes which then increases sales taxes. And just think some folks got upset a couple hundred years ago about double taxation.

OK, OK, I will play the devil's advocate here (and there is no need to cry troll at every shadowed nook and cranny around here). I read what the guy wrote, and I interpreted it in a different way. What I heard is that he walked away from it hoping that it would get taken over. It would seem that his plan, though hopeful, was foolish. Rather than being taken over, it simply accumulated a lot of taxes over the years. If he is being a troll, what was the intent, or the profit in it?

Seems we chase away more people than we need to.

Even low taxes can add up to a large amount over a period of years. And the interest and penalties that get tacked on make it skyrocket. Interest is one percent per month, penalties start at six percent and climb to 12 percent at the end of six months, with an added 20% tossed on for attorney's fees for collection.

I hope the OP did not pay more than 20 years taxes though. They are not legally collectible after that time.

I don't know much about property taxes outside of Dallas.

But because there is no income tax, it seems there is no such thing as a low property tax in Texas.
