I thing Age-ranger tried to call on this once and got a overexcited "No way, guns are never allowed in a post office" type of response.

I have posted on my experience here before. I did chat with the postmaster of Palmer, Tx... yea I know, small town, but he has over 20 years experience. Apparently, this issue has never been brought to him, in any of his previous training. First of all, we know some firearms can be carried into a post office. Such as someone shipping a shotgun, or rifle. Thats a firearm, being carried into a post office. Also, cops can carry there. Im sure thats not disputed. The question really is, does my CHL apply there? Well, the postmaster I talked with thought it would be fine because i was "licenced". He was funny when he said " If you are carrying concealed, how would I know"?

Just yesterday I saw a tongue-in-cheek response to this very question by a lawyer in Missouri (Kevin Jamison). The response was posted in his summary of the MO CCW regulations. It said...

premises of the Post Office. No big deal for me because there are several
places I do not carry when I think I leagaly could and I could get away with
it. My money was to hard to come by for me to take a chance...... Thats just me.

Working in the PO is evil!
OTOH, with the way things are moving now (in Allen TX anyway) you may be able to go to a postal office that is not US Gov't Prop't.
The PO in Allen has contracted with a local store to do postal stuff (kind of like a UPS or FedEx store) and I haven't dropped in to see if they post yet.
