Does anyone know which modern actions are based on the Mauser action? Controlled feed, I think it is called? I've always heard about how reliable they are, so maybe I can figure that into the equation as well...I'm not ready to buy just yet, and I really want to do ALL my homework and get something I'm going to like and want to keep.

All Ruger bolt actions are controlled feed.

Thank you. And I am a pretty big fan of Ruger products. Those that I do own seem to be very reliable and solidly built. I'd love to have the M77 Compact Magnum in .308 Win but its a bit out of my price range. :cryin

It might be out of your price range right now, but one of these appeals to me. Notice that this is the export version, with a somewhat longer, stainless barrel.

Most of them.

Controlled feed means the extractor claw holds the round all the way so it can't fall out. It's not just a Mauser thing, not even all Mausers have it.

The Savage I have is push feed, and I believe Remingtons bolt guns as well.

Sorry, the Karabiner 98k always comes to mind when I think of Mauser...and I had read that it was controlled feed.
