Maybe you are looking at it wrong. The party is made up of people good and bad. All with different trains of thought. The only thing in common with any of them is that they tend to have a more conservative frame of mind. I hate to say it, but it takes more than just registering and voting to change things. We arent going to change anything by going Galt or incognito. But we can make a difference by becoming active. Join your local tea party, get active with your local Republicans and candidates. It is up to us to shape the party into what we would like to see it.The Annoyed Man wrote: I know it's not required, but I would reregister as an independent as an act of protest against the republican party. The Republican (Democrat, or Libertarian) party is a lot more than the candidates that are running for President. For most of us the local folks have more influence on our lives than the President has. If we don't like what it has become it is up to us as citizens to change it. We can run for office or work to effect who is a in power.
There are different frames of minds for the Republican party. Some are motivated by at working to get a smaller Government. Others are motivated making government work better for them. Others want to the Government to shape the world to their ideals. All with a different views, but they can work together and accomplish goals they have in common. Sometimes we can even get get people to see things in our perspective.
