How do my business partner and I get into the same instructor class? Do I need ti call the DPS or what? It would be more economical if we made one trip.

Make sure to test fire both handguns you will be using with the ammo you will be using beforehand. Bring a spare for each if you can.

Several people had mechanical issues during the range portion. The majority of those were revolvers oddly enough. One had a .44 magnum with light primer strikes. One had a snubbie with a cylinder that wouldn't latch. Not sure of the others. Was also a guy with a glock that started shooting low. Not sure if it was really a gun problem, or a personal issue. Loaned him my glock 34 for his last try and he passed fine.

Service sized. 38/.357 with. 38's was the most popular and probably easiest choice. I used a 327pd.

Just got a new s&w 686 pro series in today hoping to get sum learn threw it this weekend.

Just completed the Jan 2-6 Instructor class and there were a few revolver breakdowns during the range qualifications. After I finished shooting the revolver portion (and passed) I loaned my .357 with a 4" barrel to one of the guys that had a problem his his revolver not hitting the primers hard enough. He had nine rounds that did not fire. He passed with my gun and all worked out well.

Whatever you use make sure you run a box of 50 through it prior to going to the range quals. I definitely recommend the .357 with 38 special loads. Just be sure that you practice with whatever revolver you plan to use - timed events are a bad way to have a problem and still shoot 90%.

Thanks trilogy just bought a brand new s&w 686 pro series got about 50 rounds threw it need a couple hundred more. I have had more time on the range with my semi auto, so i will shoot it alittle before my class.

Some of all of the above. They do a good job making sure you know what you need to know and where to find the answer.

I used a buddy of mine's Rossi .357 with a 4inch barrel. I think when I went to my instructor course, that everyone seemed to be nervous about the revolver test and the worry was for nothing. lol I think we all kind of psyched our selves out for the most part. I scored perfect on my written exam and perfect on my semi shooting test and scored a 248 on the revolver test. Don't let it bother you. I think we only had one person have to re-shoot and that was for a pistol issue and used someone else's to re-shoot. The weirdest thing that happen was the night before we went to the range, they were showing us a map of how to get to the range and the DPS Trooper said when we get there to go slow and not hit the pole outside the gate. No one had done it before but he wanted to make sure that no one did. Of course some guy the next morning about split his car in half on that pole trying to go in. The Trooper said he had never brought that up in other class and the first time he did, it happen.
