Growing up in NYC, it was Soda. Then, I moved to Northern MN and it was Pop. I resisted that change for the 7 years I lived there.

To this day, I still call it Soda. It will always be Soda to me.

Growing up in East and South Texas, I always called it "coke"...its just what everyone said. After going in the Air Force, and spending enough time in various places, particularly California, I started saying "soda". The only people I ever knew who called it "pop" were from places like Minnesota or Wisconsin. That map is pretty neat looking.

Born in Cleveland -- called it "pop."

Don't drink "Coke," just "Diet Coke," But have settled with the ubiquitous "soda water" or "soda."

Burp! - 'scuse me.

Yeah, that is the found a lot in the green areas in North Carolina and southern Virginia I think. At least that's where I have heard it.
And when I visit my great aunts in NC, they always ask if I want smice (some ice) with it.

My NY days are showing. I still call anything carbonated "soda." I was only there for the 4 years I was in high school. They were great years, but I was a kid and didn't know any better. That's where I got rid of the "r" in my formerly mid-western "wash."

About the only soda I drink, though, nowadays is Cherry Coke or a Cherry Zero otherwise I just drink water.

As a kid out with my grandfather, he would ask me if I wanted a "Co-Cola".

Soda is what you drink. Coke is what you put up your nose.......at least that's how I used to see things before I knew any better.
