Agreed - on the smaller hogs. On 150 pounders or larger, much more effective to stick it in their ear, or ideally, practice enough to be able to get 'em just behind and below the ear.

Rib/lung shots on big pigs, whether with arrows or 300 UberMag rifles, are no doubt eventually fatal. But hogs typically do not leave blood trails like deer do and when rib hit or gut shot, frequently get lost in the bush. Which may or may not be some folk's objective.

Wait til' you actually bag something...after I took my first bow-buck, I have not picked up a rifle to deer hunt since...and that's been a number of years ago. My son got his first deer 3 years ago with his bow, and feels the same way.

Good advice on starting with something light. You can get an adjustable one (Probably 60-70 lbs range for you) that I believe will crank down into the upper 50 lb range. As you shoot more and get more comfortable, ramp it up. I started on a Hoyt Raptor that I bought used and now shoot a Bowtech Patriot I have set at 67 lbs. And you're right, it's a blast.
