A word of advice. College professors by and large like to hear themselves talk (not everyone, but most IME), they don't like independant thought. You are there to fetch the required parchment. Be a parrot, don't try to educate anyone. Get what you need and get out. I graduated with high honor at one school and with honor at another, not one of my teachers knew my political thoughts. Yeah it is stinky, that is life. If you need that parchment, do what you gotta do ten move on.

Exactly. I know a man who holds a doctorate in music who could not get a job if anyone knew he is a Conservative. Liberals allow all topics with a Liberal bent. Don't ever dare talk about fiscal responsibility or self determination (this includes self-protection). Both are heretic level offenses in the class room and you will be burned at the stake.

Had a student raise his hand in a Humanities class. He asked the teacher if he could ask the pretty girl in front row for her phone number. Come to find out he was off his medication. We didn't see him again til finals. The school had made accommadations for him to do the classwork online.

I don't think we are ever going to cure those who are so petrified about guns that they are willing to make up any story to persecute those who have guns. Of course, a 56 year old student with no more sense that was shown by the reported actions in this matter has pretty much shot himself in the foot.
Not taking up for him (as I wouldn't have written it) but it was supposed to be a journal of daily thoughts and supposedly nothing was off limits. In fact, they were encouraged to be "edgy." I would have thought that would be something liberals would like since there are classes in pornography, pole dancing, etc. and they are all about free speech (as long as it isn't conservative speech).
And that was probably his basic mistake as well. The pornography aspect is more complicated when you're dealing with a feminist. But I think the main issue here is that when a man expresses unrequited interest in a "feminist," (or "liberal" female), and that man is not a PC liberal, it's harassment or exploitation --even mere interest or appreciation. However, if the liberal female is interested in the man, then he can get away with just about anything, including harmless behavior that the same woman would demand other men be prosecuted for. This concept was well expressed when Slick Wille was president. You can never forget that the left has a different set of expansive limits than those that apply to their inferiors.....the rest of us.

When I was in college taking an English writing class, we had an assignment to write an argumentative paper. This is a paper where you argue a position or point of view with the objective being to bring the reader over to your point. We were told any topic was acceptable except abortion, as that was too polarizing a topic and nobody was likely to sway anybody else's opinion on the matter.

I should mention that my teacher was a hippie. Seriously. No makeup, hair straight and down to her waist. She always wore earth tone dresses that I swear were made of hemp. And sandals. She would sit cross-legged on her desk during lecture.

I was going to LSU at the time and one of the biggest things going on was the gubernatorial race between David Duke and Edwin Edwards. I decided to write a paper supporting Duke's candidacy.

My arguments had nothing to do with Duke's KKK affiliation, which I certainly don't condone, but rather the positions he espoused regarding fiscal responsibility and social conservatism. I pointed out Edwards' previous stint at governor was filled with corruption and dirty dealings and how it would be to Louisiana's detriment to have someone as governor whose campaign bumper stickers stated "Vote for the Crook!". Seriously. As a side note, Edwards won the election but is currently in Federal prison for illegal dealings he made and bribes he took while governor that term.

When I got the paper back, I had received an F on it, even though I thought I had laid out my arguments well. I asked another student who sat next to me, who was black and had received a B on his paper, to read mine and see what he thought. He read it and said "Obviously, I'm not for Duke, but I thought your arguments were good. In fact, I think your paper is better than mine. You shouldn't have gotten an F."

Every single paper I turned in for the rest of the semester I received an F on, no matter what the topic. Needless to say, I failed the class.

I should mention that I had received an A on every paper up until this point.

When I complained to the Dean and appealed my grade, he said the grading was objective and there was nothing he could do about it.

A perfect illustration of my point. My son is a recent UT Austin graduate, and he had some classes "taught" by extreme leftists....and by extreme I mean that your hippie professor was mainstream compared to these professors. The most rabid left-wing nonsense was spoken in class as absolute truth --by the majority of the students too, which is really scary. He knew the game going in though, can write in just about any style, and got out with A's by telling them what they wanted to hear. Telling lefty liberal arts professors what they want to hear is an absolute requirement for maintaining good grades.

Personally, I haven't found the opposite true. I've had conservative leaning professors...though few in number...who still managed some objectivity when I disagreed with them.

I'll come straight out with it, the guy screwed up. In today's world, like it or not, there are things you dont say when they can be considered to be unwanted attention to women. He is 56, if he hadn't learned that lesson before this, then he has now. He showed an obvious lack of judgement both in his choice of topics and in letting the U know of his CHL status and the number of guns he owned. As was said previously, concealed is concealed. College is a privilege, a private choice, to attend. There are as many types and philosophies in colleges as there are in any other grouping of concerns. If he wanted to find a socially conservative institution then they are out there, if he wanted an extremely liberal one they are out there. No matter his choices are, if he was going to school to develop a career option, he will still have to deal with the reality of the changing work environment when it comes to females in the work force. In the end he may have learned this most important lesson regarding todays world, even if he had to do it the hard way.

When I was going to the University in Austin. I would write papers crammed full of
liberal anti gun garbage. Then I would give a contributuin to the
NRA to make me feel better about what I did. I got the grades I wanted and
my revenge for being forced to write against my true beliefs :tiphat:
