Randy, his family, and his doctors are in my prayers.

Sunday night/ Monday Morn
After a CT scan revealed substantial bleeding and swelling in the brain they inserted a pressure monitor into his brain to continue to gauge the level of pressure. After several hours and no relief in the pressure Randy required surgery. Wonderful Dr. Lee performed a left brain lobe removal in order to alleviate the pressure. Praise the Lord the surgery went as best as it could have. The brain pressure went back down to a normal level making the situation less critical.
Please continue to pray that the swelling goes down, that the bleeding stops, and that the pressure remains at a normal level.
31 But those who trust in the Lord
will receive new strength.
They will fly as high as eagles.
They will run and not get tired.
They will walk and not grow weak.
Isaiah 40:31
I've been praying for a full recovery since I found out last night. . . Randy's one of the most authentic, genuinely caring, humble, uplifting, and passionate people I've ever been fortunate enough to call "friend".The Annoyed Man wrote:Well I am a bit shattered. Randy's daughter set up a Caring Bridge page for him so she could post updates to it. Here is the latest entry:Sunday night/ Monday Morn

All of the prayers and messages are so very encouraging... Thank you! We love all of you!
Today has been a very positive day...
First for clarification- the name of the procedure is misleading- they removed a portion of his skull over the left side NOT a portion of his actual brain=)
The surgery went as best as it could have and the recovery has been the same- the pressure has remained steady all day at a normal level. We just wrapped up our last family visit for the day with him and there is a definite improvement from last night at this time which is very hopeful. Continuing to pray that the swelling and bleeding will go down. He will have a CT scan in the morning and we will know more about the brain is recovering.
We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. Ps. 33:20
An email has gone out for meals, and another site has been set up for church family to sign up.We are so thankful for the many many visitors and all who are praying for us!
Yesterday and today have been very long days of waiting... he has been holding steady, which is good news! His numbers are all right where they need to be. Yesterday they removed the blood drains and the pressure in his brain remained steady. They left the fluid drain in, but it has been clamped now for two days, and again his pressure remains steady.
The nurses say that he will continue to be in the extra long "catnap" (as Randy always call them) for as long as the dr. feels necessary for him to continue to heal. They are not really putting a time frame on that... saying possibly a week, or 2 or more.
When my brother had a brain injury in 2010, he was in a coma for 6 weeks before he woke up.fickman wrote:The doctors aren't giving a timeline to wake him up yet. . .
That sounds like good news. One week
It's so hard to believe that's it's been a week since Randy's accident. On one hand it seems like we've been stuck in this place forever and on the other hand it's so surreal that an entire week has gone by.
This weekend has been slow & steady... On Friday he did spike a little fever that the dr. was concerned about, however that has gone down (Praise the Lord) and his Cranial Pressure has remained steady at a pretty low number also. This is the number that is the most significant... once the dr. feels it has remained at a low enough number (a 10 or below) for some time (they are not putting an exact time frame) then they will begin the process of allowing him to wake. Until then he remains in his medical induced coma, which also means pain-free healing for him.
We see God's hand every step of the way and truly thank everyone for the prayers & support. Please continue to pray for his pressure to lower and stay there and for his temperature to stay normal.
