Another plus one for the Amsec BF series... Spend the extra five hundred over the budget you mentioned and get a good safe. I went with the mechanical instead of digital for dependability and peace of mind. Digital locks are a disaster, just waiting to happen. As a matter of fact, someone recently post on this very forum about having to call a safe cracker out to drill into their safe because of one of these digital locks.

They make nice stuff as well. But your criteria of wanting skin thicker than 10 gauge puts you into the 'Crown' series. Doubt you'll get anything other than maybe the smallest safe close to your $2k price. The 'Triumph' is 10 gauge, the 'Crown' is 3/16". I went around looking at safes a couple weeks ago. To go from 11 gauge to 10 gauge (for the same size safe) is about a $500 - $1,000 add (depending on the mfg and size of the safe). The jump from 10 gauge to 3/16" is even bigger. One that will hold 30 - 40 rifles isn't going to be one of the smaller safes. So just saying you want more greater than 10 gauge is going to blow your $2k price right out the window. Most I looked at that were 10 gauge were $3k and up. You can get a Fort Knox and add (as an option) additional wall thickness.

Okay, the $2k budget is being upped to $3k now.

I'm looking at Superior Safes (champion safes with external hinges) and their Master 50.

That's an 11 gauge wall thickness. If you're looking 11 gauge, check out the Liberty Franklin or Fatboy series.

I settled on the Superior master 50
