That's because Zimmerman's actions may not be protected under Castle doctrine or Stand Your Ground, if it is determined that he initiated/instigated the confrontation. You aren't allowed to poke your finger in someone's chest to get the other party to swing at you. If it is determined he did essentially that, the DA would likely have sufficient justification for a manslaughter conviction (not murder II... that's just ridiculous). A false use of the Stand Your Ground defense will do more harm to our rights than equitable justice IAW Florida's current law. If it is determined he was justified, it will not be because of the Stand Your Ground immunity clause, and that will serve all gun owners better than a knee-jerk acquittal or conviction of Mr. Zimmerman in the media.74novaman wrote:But I heard from members here who swore up and down that if we didn't convict Zimmerman with the rest of the mob, public support for CC and gun rights would evaporate over night!!
