I like the look of cargo pants/shorts but rarely put anything in the cargo pocket. Too low and too much room for the gun to flop around in. I carry IWB and/or a bug in front pocket.

Spare mags/speed loaders in the left cargo, oc in the right...

Wrangler cargo shorts have a convenient magazine pouch built in to their cargo pocket. FYI

Another option would be to go with gun concealment jeans.

That's called the "Tech" pocket by Wrangler
For high tech mags ...

I routinely carry my primary weapon IWB and a .380 BUG in my shorts cargo pocket in a pocket holster. I've practiced drawing from the pocket while clearing the holster and I've jogged a little with my dog with no problems. I don't see an issue.

:iagree:

No EDC in the cargo pockets, but a great place to have extra mags and I'll also place a tactical flashlight for those times you leave during the day and are out until dark.

I tried the cargo pocket and it was not for me. Even with a pocket holster, the gun always seemed to rotate where it was laying flat with hand grip pointed at the sky. This caused it to wedge in and I felt like I needed three hands to get it out. I do on occasion use the regular front pocket and this works okay. Pocket carry is way down on the bottom of my list for preferred carry options.

I wear cargo shorts 99.99% of the time if I can. Here's my usual set up:

With the Glock 19:

Glock in OWB holster about the 2 oclock position. strong side pocket cell phone. Weak side pocket extra magazine. Strong side cargo pocket is wallet. Weak side cargo pocket has a knife clipped to it.

The wallet and knife are light enough they don't really bang around too much and bother me.

When I'm carrying a 5 shot .357:

.357 in a pocket holster, strong side pocket. knife in weak side pocket. wallet right side cargo, phone weak side cargo. My cargo pants have a couple extra little pockets on top of the big cargo pocket, and when I'm carrying a revolver a bianchi speed strip with 5 more .357s will go in the strong side small pocket.

Like the others, I feel a gun is too heavy and too slow to access when banging around down in a cargo pocket.

I'll drop a J-frame in the cargo pocket to run into a gas station or something, but not for extended wear.

Pros are easy access but the cons are having a weapon loosely bouncing around in your pocket with could result in it coming out of the case or tripping the safety feature & result in accidental discharge. I would carry in a secure area on you that you feel is the most safe

Much depends on the choice of pocket holster. They are not all created alike.

The soft ones will allow the gun to flop around to random positions - not good.

I use the Fist K5 with either a snubby .38 or a compact .40 or .45 semiauto. This holster keeps the gun stable and has a thumb platform to push on during the draw to make sure the holster stays in the pocket when the gun comes out in the hand. It also completely hides the profile of the gun. There is no printing at all.

I wear cargo pants/convertible shorts frequently... I either carry with a pocket holster or IWB. I wouldn't carry it on the side pocket... too loose and inaccessible in my opinion...

In the summer I often carry a small .45 or .38 in a good pocket holster like the Fist K5 in the front pocket of cargo shorts. I prefer the shorts with a deep slash style front pocket. The gun carries very comfortably, doesn't flop around, is well concealed, secure and very easily accessible.

What's not to like?

The $44 price tag!!!

Holsters are not an exception to the rule that you get what you pay for.
