I think both require an external drive to install software or you must download any software you want to install as there is no dvd drive. You might look at what they both charge for external dvd drives.

I was a little concerned about this when I got my Macbook Air, but to be honest, there's never been a point where I'm wishing I had a DVD/CD drive. Most software is downloadable today, or can be installed via USB key.

My last Apple was a IIe. I'd buy the toshiba out of the 2. :-)
