A point to be made here is that learning and practicing in advance of the "stuff" moment is a good thing. You won't wait until the BG is at your door to figure out which end of your gun to point. There are a lot of Ham bands, radio types and antennas. Understanding what you can and cannot do with some of the configurations may help you when you actually need to use them. The license is actually a learning tool.
