They are pretty cool. When I thought about getting one I thought they were really expensive, but I was looking for a smoker in the $300-$400 price range at the time. When I told my wife about it and said I wanted to show her something she was afraid I was wanting one of those stainless steel monstrosities that run several thousand dollars. So, on the scale of grills, it probably falls closer to the middle or lower middle in the $$/size, but the quality is much higher for the size and flexibility.

Bill, we bought ours on July 5th, but today is the first time I've used it. It works really well, and the ribs are perfect.....almost. They got wrapped in foil after smoking for about 2.5 hours with a dry rub on and are being chilled right now in the fridge. Tomorrow, when our son and his SO come over with a couple of friends from church, the ribs will be glazed with a honey based BBQ sauce and popped back onto the grill along with some brats and chicken breasts.

Ranger cookies.....This was Laura Bush's recipe. They're like chocolate chip cookies, but with extra stuff like coconut, craisins, and pecans added. They smell delicious. But even those are for tomorrow.

I'm not a GenXer, but I still don't have that kind of patience. The best I can muster so far is when I make chili. That takes about 30 minutes of prep time and then 5 hours in the crock. Man that's torture!

We cheated. We cut one rib off of one of the racks just to sample for consistency. Best ribs I ever made. The meat is falling off the bone and melts in the mouth. Tomorrow's treatment of glazing them with honey in some hickory smoke while cooking the brats and chicken is merely icing on the cake, finishing them off with a flourish, so to speak.

I'm gonna have to make a bigger batch next time.

Oh...and the ranger cookies are to die for.

Shouldn't be too hard to find. Just drive around with the windows down with your nose hanging out smelling for the best ribs you've ever smelled.

I bought the large one with the extended length table. I probably could have gone for the extra large one, but I already have a decent sized Texas Pitcrafters smoker, and a large Kitchenaide stainless gas grill, so it's not like I'm hard pressed for grill space. I just really like the efficiency of the BGE, and if I'm just cooking for me and the wife and maybe one or two other people, the large BGE is plenty large enough
