Look here, I'm not taking that as a joke and here's why: I spent almost 21 years in the USAF. I'm an aircraft mechanic, not some paperpusher. No one ever shot at me and I make no claims of being a hero or anything of the sort. BUT, I did deploy quite a few times, and some of that was in the 1990s when a lot of other folks weren't deploying...the places themselves weren't that bad, but we were gone A LOT. Add that to all the 12 hour + shifts I worked, and getting called in on the weekends...plus the general lack of personnel due to downsizing from the Cold War days, and just the fact that the downsizing never really stopped, just slowed once or twice...yeah, depending on your job in the USAF, it can be VERY difficult to get someone to give you time to even go eat, much less vote. I have nothing but respect for anyone in any service. I'm not mad at you personally, and I will reiterate that I make NO CLAIMS of being a hero, not in the least, but I put in at least my fair share of time and effort. And I do NOT appreciate that being taken lightly.

I said it was meant as a joke. That certainly doesn't require that everyone take it that way.

I don't understand the comments about being shot at, being a hero, and being a paperpusher. I made no mention of anything related to any of that. I did not denigrate your service nor did I say that anyone else's service was better or worth more. My point about my son was that even someone who was "unavailable" a lot of the time was able to vote at every opportunity. Sometimes it was absentee, sometimes it was early voting, and he even managed to vote in person on election day a few times.

I am sorry that you seem to harbor some sort of resentment regarding your service which causes you to be defensive. Service for which I, and many others here, are thankful. I really have no quarrel with any branch of our military. They all have different roles and they all fill them well.

Obama is a master of divide and conquer. I hope many that fell for it the first time will sober up and not fall for it again.

This is just another play from the same Democratic playbook. They have consistently tried to use the courts to block Military votes. All the absentee ballots that were challenged and thrown out in FL 2000, for example.

I didnt find the joke to be offensive and actually smiled when I read it. Inter service rivalry has been going on since beyond the days of Roman Legions. Loosen up, its all water off a duck's back and doesnt diminish your role with the flyboys. We all know the truth; the navy gets the gravy and the army gets the beans & the jarheads get confused looking for the mess. Thanks for your service.
