You should be legal here. However, under these circumstances and in a location like this where the police think it is illegal to carry in any athletic complex (Remember the Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fair?), if you are discovered it might be EXTREMELY difficult and certainly more expensive than your average uphill battle in a situation that is much more clear.

I wouldn't because I can't afford to fight that battle even if it does mean that I will probably come out richer in the end and I don't want to risk loosing my license.

From everything I have read here its looks to be legal. But most cops and campus police are not up to par with the chl laws. So I think I will be on the safe side and leave it in the car. Thanks for all the responses guys.

IANAL, but I am pretty sure this would make a stadium a "building" or "premises." With or without a roof. In which case, off limits.

AFAIK, and this is from talking to campus police, the only "building" where CHL'ing is allowed is a parking garage (as long as it stays in the car).

In my opinion, this is the correct answer....

As I understand things,
1. Event: If the event is not sponsored by or related to a school activity, the event would not be off limits.
2. Location: If the event is on an open field, I would not consider this "premises", even if the field had a movable set of bleachers and a chain-link fence. If the event is inside any kind of "structure"..... gymnasium, open-top stadium, anything that can be secured after hours by closing the doors, etc., then this would be the "premises" of the school and off limits, even if the event is not school related.

Given the attitude of some PD's (will consider you in violation even when the law specifically states that you aren't) I would consider this area a little too gray for me. I have no problem carrying past invalid signs because I know I am on sound legal ground. This looks more like quicksand to me.
