I share the concern expressed here about the apparent lack of marksmanship demonstrated by the NYPD in this incident. On the other hand I am impressed by the speed with which the department reported the unpleasant facts to the public, as contrasted with our not yet having received a report on who shot whom by any the various law enforcement agencies involved in the College Station shootout on August 13.

A couple of forum members have assured us that we will eventually learn what happened. As a resident of College Station I must ask if we are still assured of that?

I would blame that on the relative lack of media in College Station compared to the pervasive media frenzy that envelopes NYC. It seems like there are 23.6 reporters (one hesitates to use the word "journalist") for every man woman and child in NYC, all looking for The Big Story so they can be media darlings, get invited to posh parties, write a book, be played by Robert Redford or whazizname in the movies, marry up and become multimillionaires.
