I've used a 5 gallon water jug for years now. I generally empty all my change, ('silver' only, the 'copper' goes in another jar), and small bills.

It has come in handy for many purchases in the past.

ive traded some side jobs for some firearms. last score was a s&w mdl 36 pinned and flat latch modle 36 in nickel. job took me an hour.

I've bought several guns with my "change" jar. Last purchase was three .22s.

I traded in the $400 shoes for tennis shoes. Actually I've never paid over $300 for a pair of shoes but yea the shoes had to go. Resale on a pair of Jimmy Choo's isn't as good as it would be with any of my guns. Guns seem like a sound investiment to me. I'm considering standing on the corner with a cardboard sign that says "will work for gun money".

Alternate funding sources have always been a great way to get items that the budget doesn't support. I wrap coins about every month or so and there is $50-80. The Glock 30SF that I got last year was financed that way.

I don't think that I've ever actually budgeted money from my regular income for guns. Every firearm purchase that I can think of came from "unplanned" income - I think almost all of them have been made using tax refund money, actually.

I would use the money in my change jar but I have grandkids and they always beat me to it

My last 2 stripped lowers were purchased using a jug full of spare change as well as all the parts to complete one of the lowers (LPK and butt stock). Now that I have a daughter, we no longer have that change jar and converted to a big piggy bank. I am thinking of using that to fund my next AR to give her when she is old enough.
