Nobody wants to see their family members killed but just once I'd like to see a family member say something to the effect of "Well, he was always in trouble with the law and running with the wrong people. He made a bad decision and he paid for it. I don't like it but I really can't fault the homeowner."

It probably happens from time to time and probably isn't reported because it doesn't advance the liberal media narrative. After all, we're supposed to be shocked that someone would kill a thug just for breaking into their home, and robbing, raping, or trying to kill the residents. It's not "fair" when the residents have had so many advantages and the poor criminal has been "victimized" by society all his life.
